Have you thought about repairing the thread with a Helicoil ? the kits cost about 20-30$...it may be cheaper too replace the part itself.but if not the helicoil will do the trick im shure.
I am making a wood gear clock now. I havent done any scrollsaw projects in 10 years. I have all the straight cut pieces cut out already on the table saw. The gears are what I am really worried about. I will probably have to cut them at least twice. It is slow going maybe I will be done by Christmas, it will make a great gift for ME.

i use a propain fueled salamander too knock out the cold then i use a kerosen heater too maintain the temp...i keep the door cracked while the salamander is runing.
