  1. My husband used a propane heater for a while, but now he has a corn furnace. I am not sure what size the building you're trying to heat. I do know that both of these kept our garage toasty warm in Marysville, Ohio. In fact we heat our home with 2 corn stoves. It's something to consider.
  2. My issue with my glasses has alway been WHERE TO LOOK FOR THEM. My sons have always gotten a laugh out of their mom searching especially when I discover that they are resting on top of my head. HAHAHA! My new glasses do not fall off or use my nose for a sky slope. I am still chuckling at Buddy, my 109 chicken since the effects of the hurricane winds last year. He was a puppy then and we spent 2 1/2 hours looking for him after our neighbor's shed crossed the road landing in our yard. We found him trembling under a coffee table in the livingroom. I do not know how he gets into the cramped space, but he manages. Everythime the wind blows, that's where you can find Buddy, taking shelter.
  3. Yes! It was designed by Clayton Baker 08", original pic from pdclipart.org. I posted this information with the cutting when I included it in my gallery last night. I found it extremely humorous considering the issue I am experiencing with my new computer and it's updated opperating system. My old computer utilized Windows original opperating system!
  4. These were made for two very special little people in my life who are adjusting after the loss of their dad. The pattern was purchased and can be located by Searching with the key words, "I Know I'm Somebody Scroll Saw Pattern."
  5. I found this pattern within the scrllsawer.com pattern vault and found it tickled my funny bone. Thought I would pass it on. (picture prior to Sanding!)
  6. Fantastic idea! I like it. Great job.
  7. I like this advice!
  8. I heard you talk about dipping the scroll saw project into lemon oil. Will the lemon oil interfer with gluing the finished projet to the felt?
  9. Congradulations on your new toy! I am relatively new to this hobby as well. I have found that everyone here a scroll saw village is wonderful in their support and advice. I look forward to seeing your work.
  10. Thanks Travis! I am presently trying to paint an Uncle Sam Whirligig. My hans has the "hebby gebbies" and I just cannot paint the stripes on either his hat or his pants. I opted to take a break and visit Scroll Saw Village for a while.
  11. when doing the cleaning of your saw and the vaccume hose becomes clogged, never blow through it when it is pointed towards your face.
  12. These a faux painting techniques. The grass was painted with a SEA SPONGE. I base coated the wood with a pea green, then I used the sponge to dab olive and evergreen over the base coat. The fence has five shades of blacks and browns. The base coat was black. I used a fan brush and layered the remaining colors from dark to light over the black, using what is refered to as a dry brush application. The trick is not to load up with a lot of paint on either technique. I use a lot of news paper to sponce off excess paint when I paint. Thanks!
  13. calgone, take me away!!!!
  14. I have been working on whirligigs. This is one I have been fussing with all week. I have been have issues with the crank and the linkage binding up . With some input from my family, I can now say the problem has been fixed . I put it in the clamp stand and took her outside this morning. As the wind caught the propellers, the crank freely spun, and the linkage enabled the horse to move up and down as to assimulate a gallop . Now I can finish painting and applying sealer.
  15. The work you put into this really shows. Where did you come up with this idea. I am totally at awe. Beautiful work!
  16. And in the process of gluing make sure not to glue yourself to the project!!! Watch the sander with your fingernails, mine are all filed flat and diaganally to the right side.
  17. I always put the tape on first, before I attach the pattern. I already had the pattern attached to this one, however, so I taped it to the second board as a trial. I never considered using the painters tape, because glare is an issue with my eyes. Thanks
  18. Very good discription and very well explained. I have been stack cutting two word art projects to try this method. So far everything is going well, except when the saw dust collects under the tape. I use my make ready knife and remove some of the tape to allow the saw dust to fly away. I was making it harder to comprehend by virtue of what I had found on the internet, which in terms of scrolling, made no sense. Thanks guys!
  19. Cute maan. really cue!
  20. Thanks toolbeltman.
  21. I am new to scrolling, and resently someone had suggested stack cutting. I have tried to find information on thi topic, but what I find is not related to scroll art. Can someone explain this, the when, where, why, and how?
  22. There were braclet patterns offered through woodworking & crafts magazine and scroll saw.com. I can look up the issue dates if you are interested.
  23. From what I have heard that laser surgery is not as successful as they lead you to believe. My mother-in-law and ex dentist are only two examples. They are now both "Legally blind".
  24. This was actually highlighted using paint. It is a tote painting technique I know as color washing, in which acrylic paint is diluted with water and washed across the wood surface. This was my first attempt at this process. I joked around with the words: "repaint, repaint, thin some more" as I did the painting. Yes, I have a sense of humor.
  25. My labrador managed to break my glasses a while back. I have managed with Duck Tape and of those plastic wire shrink tube things. After having to fish my glasse out of the mop bucket, the mud, and other disgusting orifaces, today I opte to have my eyes examined. I cannot believe the vivid colors One misses until their eyes are dialated. The blues are so much bluer. I just can't handle "WHITE". I am going to have to watch my glasses for a little while as they do not want to remain on my face. In the mean time I need to teach Buddy, one of our three labs, that my glasses are NOT his toy. He used them as a chew toy once and I thought we swollowed the right lense, but this lost time I think he must of thought they were a frisbe. The lab tech spent nearly a half hour bending and straightening. The straightening of what was not broken, any way. So for now I am walking around in the house wearing sun glasses, and the sun is not even shinning outside. It is really weird!
