I haveiger cat, her name is psych. I did not give her thi name, my oldest son did. Recently she had 5 kittens. Onethem was born with a birth defect. She only had one eye. It was funny watching her. When she walkked it was if she was drunk, I had no idea was expecting. she is skinny ALL THE TIME. She too is a stray. She thought the engine of my cas a warm coy place to take a nap. My son thought the cat was nuts, he the name, PSYCHO. Her persality reflects her name, extremely well.

I agree with the advice concerning flee markets. Most people want something for nothing. Craft shows are all different. I Have yet to step into this arena, but it is what I am considering. I did however, disply my handcraft through consignment shops. They tend to want a large percentage of the profit. I found that I had to ver price my merchandise in order to make a profit. I also found that my items were stolen and treated with out regard.

I wanted to do something fun and not quite so demanding. I found this in a magazine and felt it would fit in with my work space. Besides it is the question My scroll saw asks me on a daily basis.

I chose not to make any correction to the chips. They sort of add character. In the beacon area a piece broke and I for the life of me cannot figure out where it came from. I learned a lot cutting this and that's what matters. I am extremely pleased with it considering I am new to this art. I just wish they would invent a self threading scroll saw blade. My knees are getting one heck of a work out! I posted a picture. You did a fantastic job on the pattern.

I started the light house on Tuesday morning. It was a real challenge for me. I have only been using the scrollsaw for a short 2 1/2 months. My first project, I coined the nickname tooth pick maker. However, since then, I have learned a lot and most of which addresses the quality of lumber and the position of it's grain. I cut the lighthouse using a #1 reverse tooth blade, changing to a spiral blade to cut the fence.

I have been working on the lighthouse portrait and found that much of the building was held by one smal anchor. As I was cutting the large section that encomapssed the roof, building, and the ground, I could feel a lot of vibration. I minimized damage by placing pieces of scothch tape along the cut cut path behind the blade. the wood no longer vibrated and the structure remained in contact. I also found that the obnoxious pop with the breaking of scroll saw blades can be minimized by afixing a piece of foam to the upper blade fixture. I am no longer jumping out of my skin!

I have managed to get down to the last two cuts, and seeing that I am using a reverse tooth blade, I am feeling sort of "SEA SICK." I knew from the start that I was stepping way outside my comfort level, but I accepted the challenge. I purchased the plywood forthis project on line and it incured some damage in the shipment process. I am not real sure if the chipping in the fence area is the result of the shipping damage. I can tell you that I can feel the increasing population of GRAY HAIR as I make these delicate cuts. Is there a way to fix the chips, or do I just leave them alone? The wood is so fragil in this area.

I am working on the lighthouse pattern designed by Travis. I am getting close to the actual lighthouse, and I found an issue with the pattern. The fence in the upper right portion their is an area that if I cut it as printed, will fall out. I believe this is known as an ISLAND. I see options as to how I can avoid this, but I am asking for the advice of others. Thanks. Nita Taylor

Hi, I am Nita and I am a "newbie" to scroll sawing. I have done all sorts of craft things and even designed some. I look forward to learning how to NOT BREAK things in the process of creating them.
