1. Sounds fun, but not sure if I could participate as it would be a bit more for someone posting to Australia compared to posting within the US
2. Regarding the mirror backing. I usually use mirrored perspex (mirrored acrylic or mirrored plexiglass) which can be cut to shape easily enough on the scroll saw.
3. No worries ... and sure, could never pass up a cookie or three haha
4. Its always great meeting up with fellow scrollers, even better when they are a great published pattern designer. I go to a scrollsaw weekend here in Australia each year and its always good catching up with new and old people and seeing what they have been up to. Unfortunately I missed this years meeting but all going well I will be down there next year.
5. Very nice Susie, love your work.
6. Nice work on the cross, has come out well
7. The results so far... We have a lot of givings and chariatable people here ... but we already knew this and didnt need a poll to tell us that
8. Congrats Steve, You are going to be very happy with the Dewalt. Cant wait to see the projects you make once it arrives.
9. I wouldnt want to mess with him at Thanksgiving but great work on the intarsia project, big kudos to you talented people who can do intarsia.
10. I like the deer cutting on the saw blade, nicely done and good pattern too
11. Plenty of hits come up when you search for this saw, but none really have a review of the saw http://www.scroll-saws.us/Skil_Skil_3335_02_120_Volt_Scroll_Saw_Reviews_Comparison-B003LSSS1Q-item.html Same styling of the saw I first learnt on and it served me well and was a good introduction to scrolling and showed me that I was interested in the hobby and wanted to go further with it.
12. I knows its not Intarsia, but I have used this site for some segmentation projects im working on. They may be able to be adapted for Intarsia too http://www.freepatternsforstainedglass.com/freestainedglasspatternssearch.html Brett
13. Nice work on the MJ cutting, will look good hanging on the wall
14. Thats a better view, looks good
15. Hard to get a good look from the angle its on, but looks like you did well with it. I like the cars you added on the frame.
16. I started on a saw like that (different colour and badge, but same build) and it served me well in that it showed me that I was interested in the hobby and wanted to go further with it. Hopefully it should do the same for you too. Does it take pinned blades? as the saw I had like that only took pinned blades and it does limit you to what you can saw with it as you need to allow for bigger entry holes Brett
17. Welcome to the world of Scrolling, im sure you will enjoy it once you buy your saw. Most of that enjoyment will come from having a good saw, so make sure you can get the best in the price range you can afford. There are a lot of helpful people in the village and no question is ever too silly, so ask away if you have any questions on what saw to get or anything related to scroll sawing. Brett
18. Just curious as to what people do with their work once they have finished it. Please visit the poll on the link below to vote. http://www.misterpoll.com/polls/498281 For those who choose the Sell option, would like to know if you still enjoy scrolling as a hobby or if it makes it more demanding on you to earn money Brett
19. Must take some getting used to having to use the saw with the table tilted in that way. Do you have a jig to drill the angled holes for the internal ring holes? Brett
20. Where did you get the pattern for the two of them?
21. Very nice work SQ, love the effect of the timbers going in the other direction on the top layer. Probably a silly question, but did you do that on a scrollsaw? Brett
22. Thankyou all for the nice comments
23. Nice work on the portrait, the words are a nice touch
24. Thanks for the nice welcome everyone
25. I found the Tagua nuts quite easy to cut, they are small but blade cuts them easy I have not tried to dye them myself, but have seen a few websites around that you can order coloured ones from The Rhino was cut from red mallee burl, the clock was made from a burl too, I cant recall what kind it was.
