  1. Happy Birthday Sawer!  I hope you have an awesome day!

  2. A vector drawing program like Inkscape is the way to go. My favorite fonts is Brush Script BT, it is thick enough to hold together and being a script each letter helps support it's neighbor. This fonts works good if you are doing a free standing text. I haven't done much were the fonts pieces are the cutout.
  3. Here's a Hummingbird desk clock pattern
  4. I hope to have a pattern posted before long, I made a few changes and made the sides a little higher. I what to make a cover that could be used and I thinking of using the sides for a wall clock also. Thanks all for your kind replies
  5. I made this basket as a Christmas gift. It turned out being a good learning procedure. It is made from 1/4" oak and walnut.
  6. I have some of Mikes blades and they work fine for the most part. I was trying to use the woodrunners up that I had found as they were the best that I have ever used until now. I will be getting some of Mikes ultra blades in the near future.
  7. This is a first for me after 30 some years of scroll sawing. I'm using a DW788. The last 2 items I cut had a angle/taper as if I had the table tilted. I triple checked to see if the blade was square to the table and it was dead on each time. I changed the blade and ended up with the same issue. I now scratching my head, I checked to see if I could find something that was loose or broken, everything checked out ok.I did some check cutting on a piece of scrap with the same issue. I finally change to a different blade from a different manufacture, ah the light goes on, it appears the whole batch of the blades are bad. I had found some #3 blades from RBI the woodrunner ones. Up until this issue I thought they were the best blades I had used. I think I'll throw the rest out, I still have 4 dozen left. Just thought I'd pass this on. You are never to old to learn something new.
  8. My thanks as well. As a new member I quickly became accustom to visiting several times a day. Thanks again, GOOD JOB.
  9. Sorry for the problems with your host. I'd like to suggest staying away from Go Daddy.com we had major issues with them a year ago and it took a couple of months to get things fix after changing host. You may want to check Ipower, I,m using them for my websites for about 110.00 a year. I don't know what kind of bandwith you need but it would hurt to ask. If I can help let me know, I can get around in php somewhat.
  10. Here's my version of a table indicator. I fits over the table pivot flange and the indicator pointer sits on the table.
  11. You can see some of my work by clicking on my signature below. About 60% of the clocks are my own patterns. It's the patterns themselves that I've made the greatest mistakes. When I first started making patterns I did it with an old copy machine that I kept cutting and pasting with touch up with a pencil and eraser. I don't have any pictures of my first piece I made, cut it with a hand fret saw out of floor under layment so it was pretty rough. I then bought a 16" Delta 2 speed, that saw made me a lot of money. I had a couple of other cheap saws that didn't last very long then bought a 20" Hawk and then my 20" Dewalt which is about as nice as they come. I'll see if I can find the images of some of the fretwork that I've done, plus a few other things. Almost everything I done is custom work these days. Thanks all for the welcome
  12. This maybe a little late but, if you tighten to much the blade will pull loose, most of the time you are one click too much. The other posts need to followed also.
  13. I agree with all the above posts. The thing I found for myself is my right eye is dominant so I have to be sure my chair is moved to the left so my eye lines up with the blade better. This has work for a couple of people.
  14. Great idea, love it. I use a small protractor to level my table but like the idea of have it attached to the saw. Going to set it up with your idea thanks
  15. HI: I've been scroll sawing for about 30 years. I do a lot of custom desk clocks in most any theme. I found this site while looking for how to do fonts in Inkscape. As a Linux user it is some times had to find how too's for Linux apps, thanks for the work that has been done here. I also do wood turning, mainly pens but some other things also. I live in the Chicago area for the past 47 years.
