As usual, I am amazed at the talent and assistance here. Thank you very much for the patterns.
Traveling for the holiday, but I hope to get on it when we return.
I will post the result when finished.

So much went wrong in my last photo cut, more than I wrote actually - but I am trudging on :-)
I even got her name was wrong. I thought it was Leah, but THIS is Leah, the other one was her older sister, Shelby.
I am needing a pattern of this young lady - so any/all help is greatly appreciated. I will go back to my basics, and cut an 8x10 with a frame etc...... :-))
I thank you in advance so very much for any and all attempts.. You guys/gals are awesome!
If the picture is not good enough or you see any issues, please let me know. I really enjoy cutting when I get the chance........

Wow, this is the 1st toss-away one I have done (tears here - LOL)... I think I will hang it up in my workshop as a reminder of the various mistakes I made.
1st, the wood I used was ordered online, and it had dark areas (as you can see, especially stood out as bad across the upper lip area). I tried to stain it (no pic - but believe me... it made it stand out worse).
2nd, the detail in the face was smaller because I tried to include too much body area. I guess that went beyond my skill level, if you look closely, a chunk of the eye ended up falling out - which was the deal breaker for me... I'm not 100% sure the cut of the wood wasn't part to blame, because, it seemed to be okay when I did it - but it fell out later when I was cutting the last few cuts... sigh.... That was sad.......
Lastly - I showed it to the co-worker.... which was an error because she really liked it.
I had already cut another (different) one, and couldn't bring myself to have the bad one be shown around.
So... - I am humbled from (and hopefully learned a lot) on this little project. I am determined to do better on the next one.
On the bright side. She REALLY liked the second one (pic attached)....... and, her daughter absolutely loves it....
All-in-all..... Great experience. Good times!
Thanks to all for your help and encouragement.

Here's my go at one of them. Roly
Roly - That is awesome... I am yet again amazed at the talent and generosity on this site.
I thank you very much, and I will post a picture of it when I am finished (hoping to get in some scroll time this weekend).

Hello...
Everyone here is so nice and helpful, I pre-thank you for your efforts.
Once again, I am hoping to get a nice pattern from either of these pictures for a co-worker. Her daughter is named Leah, and just turned 16. For sizing, I will be using an 8X10 board in either portrait or landscape (as in the pictures).
I have larger pictures if needed, but I went ahead and cut them down to post.
If there is any reason these won't make a good pattern, please let me know.
Thank you again.

Thank everyone so much... If they can't get me a better picture, I think I will be taking the camera and having a photo session while in Florida....... That will be cool though - I used to enjoy photography a lot (though I have lesser equipment these days),..... I still have a 14 mp diital camera that has worked nicely in the past.

Hello, (and Happy New Years!)
I tried to cut this young lady a while back with failure.... I zigged when I should have zagged and, cut a huge portion out - ruining it. The "mom" didn't care for the picture that was used, so I am starting over. This is part of a family set, actually, the last of 5 girls. We are headed to Florida the 1st week of February, so I am hoping to get it done by then. (yes - I am very s l o w at this, still... LOL)
Whichever of the 3 photo's is great... whatever one that will make the best pattern. if none of them will work well, I will request more pictures from the parents.
For a mixture of reasons, it's been a while since I have cut anything... Really looking forwards to it.
Oh yeah, it will be cut to fit an 8 x 10 photo frame.
Thank you in advance. You are an awesome group.

Thank you very much.... I'll post the finished product when I'm done

Hi everyone...
I have a strange request that I hope someone can help me with.
I am trying to find a western type scene to put on my workshop.
A silhouette (or line drawing of a silouette) that can be printed on many sheets of paper, then taped to the wall to make a really large scene. I have found some great "tiny" ones but they severly distort when blown up.
I plan to build a small fire pit out from the building, and will add low lighting to the wall at night.
I think it would look pretty cool if I can do it correctly. I plan on just using black paint.
Oh yeah, I have 2 smaller silhouettes of cowboy/cowgirl boots I plan to put on each side of the doors in front. We live kinda out, so I think it will fit in alright.
I had a pattern (years ago) but have lost it through several moves - and it was for a smaller bldg.
I thought about trying to find a projector (the old school house type) and tracing on the wall, but I haven't found one to try it with - and, I'm not sure if it would work without distortion due to the size.
My workshop is 24' long, so I hope to get a pattern that is in the neighborhood of
between 4 to 5 (6?) feet high
between 16 to 18 feet long
I am attaching photo's of my workshop, plus, some examples of pics I found on the net which as I said, are way too small but gives an idea of what I am looking for. They are for reference only.
If you have ideas, or can help with this, I would appreciate hearing from you.
Suggestions???? Think it's too big? Too small? Other?

Thanks to both of you,
Hmmm.. descisions descisions.... Lucky for me, it's not a surprise gift so I will let the mother pick.
Both are awesome - if I could make patterns near that quality in 3 times the hours, I'd be a happy camper.
-
I'd love to be close enough to see your process..... it would be awesome
-
Yeah... POW! It amazes me as to how quickly they can be done. My mediocre attempts take forever.... and are not quality.
Thank you very much. I will post the final when finished.
-
Very nice...
Looks like a lot of intricate work.

The final cut...
The parents seemed to like it very well. They have 5 girls, and I only have 1 more to go (went from youngest and working my way up).
Thanks again for the help.

Hello all -
Once again, I am hoping someone can make a pattern for me. This is my great neice (4 of 5), and I hope the background color doesn't interfere. Also, the dark eyes may make it difficult.
As always, I appreciate your help.
Awesome!

Hi everyone...
I am FINALLY back to being able to cut again. It has been a while (I didn't realize just how long until I found this old posting)... Hopefully, it's not too late to post the photo of the final product.
The Mom loves the outcome - and most importantly, so does the daughter.
Thanks again to everyone here for your help and encouragement...
