Thanks for all the help. I found the font I was looking for and got my program up and running, so I've already got two of the three cut. Still gotta cut the other one and then finish them all, but the person who requested them is greatly pleased with the design.

Thank you for all the praise, but I can't take credit that I haven't earned. I found a book with patterns for lots of these 2 sided projects. I'm just copying someone else's work, so to speak. I do like the concept and the way they turn out, though.

Getting there. I think I can use those. Still not what I had in mind, but looking good. I finally got MS Office to install, so I can work on it, too.

I was thinking more along the lines of a smooth flowing font. Like Black Chancery or something similar. I'm still trying to recover my programs, or I'd do it. Thank you, though. You still might get it before I can. I appreciate your help.

I just got a new computer and can't get my design software to work yet, so I need some patterns for a requested project. The three words, "Live" "Laugh" and "Love" in separate patterns to hang on the wall. Preferably a nice font. Thanks in advance.

Thank you. You'd have to wait in line for yours, though. This one is for my daughter (3yo), the one I'm working on is for my son (4 1/2 yo), and the next three are already sold before I even start. I love showing off my stuff at home depot. It's probly my best market. *chuckles*

Thanks, DW. I know it's a VAST improvement over the first teddy bear, and I'm sure if the same neighbors that bought the other were still here, they'd pay handsomely for this one. *chuckles* I'm just one of those people who always looks at his best work and says, "I could have done way better. Better try again." So, I do. After the next Santa bear, I've got a couple more "practice" pieces, then I'll be looking for a really good Eagle pattern. I want to make it for the local Fraternal Order of Eagles lodge, and maybe one for the lodge where I was a member for several years before moving. Gotta get some recognition somewhere, some how. LOL

Not much to say about it. Trying to improve my intarsia. I think the next one will be much better. I'm making a second one for my son.

Already working on a cuter "Santa Bear". It's on hold for a while, though while I rearrange the shop for all the new tools, parts, supplies, and storage units my neighbor just gave me. Not much room to move around until that's done. Good grief, that man had a lot of stuff.

I had to take the picture quick as soon as I got a first coat of shellac on it. Had time for a second coat before they came back with the cash, though.

I was close to finishing this teddy bear when a neighbor came over and insisted on giving me $40 for it before I was done. Guess I need to make a new one for my daughter now. *grins*

LOL Actually, most of my "mistakes" and "flaws" become toys for my 3 year old daughter and 4 year old son. They both think all of my stuff is "beautiful, Daddy". Daughter has already put in her official request for the whale. *chuckles*

Thanks DW. I think you just did post that it's in the gallery. *grin* Thanks for that, too. I've been looking for a free pattern for an intarsia eagle, if anyone could help with that... Also recently made my first bed. Not related to scroll saw, though, so I don't think it should be posted here. I'm posting it on LumberJocks later today, if anyone is interested.

Just finished my first Intarsia project. I'll make another like it to try and correct errors before moving on to the next pattern. Any comments and/or criticisms are welcome. I thought I did this with the first post. Guess I missed it. Sorry.

Thanks for the advice, John. I tried that with the 2 sided figures and it just doesn't work well. Don't know if it's my cheap saw or my shaky hands, but making them smaller makes some parts so delicate that it's too hard for me to remove the waste without breaking them. The Xmas ornaments are easier to scale down cause all I have to do is cut a little away from the lines. By the way, ALL of the cutoffs from the 4X4s can be used for other ornaments, so there's no waste. (Well, not much more than sawdust, anyway. )

I made a lot of kindling myself over the first couple weeks of trying, but finally developed enough patience to NOT push too hard or sideways on the work. Knowing when to change to a new blade has always been a challenge for me, too, but compound cutting helps a lot with that. Blades dull quicker and if they're dull, it takes a lot more work. I'm not in it for the "work", so I'm learning how to keep it easy. I've got a whole box full of pieces ready to cut, now, and I'm spending a lot of time doing it. (Helps reduce the stress of not being able to get the wood for my daughter's toddler bed for a while.)

Actually, I find it not difficult at all. The hardest part was finding material the right dimensions for the pattern. Had to trim down some 4X4s cause there's nothing near TRUE 2X2 in this area. Fortunately, I had some laying around and the cutoffs can be used for some of the other ornaments I make. As far as the patterns, I can't take credit for the design, because they came straight out of a book called, "128 Compound Scroll Saw Patterns" by Same Keener

Sadly, this one is no more. My two year old got ahold of it and thought she would do me a favor by tossing it to me. Delicate wooden mini-sculptures don't do well when they hit concrete floors. At least I know I can finally be sure to get it right the next time.

I've been lately working with a new (too me) type of scrolling. Compound cuts: the kind where if it's viewed from one angle, it's one thing, turned 90 degrees, it's another. This is one I just finished. (Took a while and a lot of materials to get it right.) It's rather obvious that my photographic skills need some honing, but you get the idea.

Thanks everyone. I had little hope of finding anything since my own search over the last few weeks revealed nothing. I will collect all of the free patterns, and possibly one or two paid for, and decide which will best suit my purposes. It will take a while to gather materials and build, but I'll be happy to post pictures when it's done.

I really hope this is the right place to post this request. I want plans to make my own man-powered scroll saw so I can take it with me onsite where there is no electricity. It doesn't really matter if it's treadle or peddle, though I would prefer the former. If anyone can help with this, I would be very thankful. Free would be best, but I will pay if need be.
