Hey all sorry i have not been around with work and family it has been crazy here. I havent even got a chance to finish my USN sign, untill recent. But it is finally finished 100% and awaiting my brother to return state side June 9th

Hey all wanted to post my USN project i made for my brother when he returns for over seas. I use Russell's pattern (if you remember seeing my post bout pattern help) for the idea then changed it up a bit. I also have to make a Shadow box around it where i will cut his name into the frame. Which well be made at a later date. thanks for looking

Chief, he will be working on senior when he gets back stateside i found this work, no pattern would like something like this maybe something added to it i dont know. To me it is just plain would like something that pops

Chief anchor would be cool, was thinking something really nice and neat. Since i have till June i have time to do a more advance project.

Hey all it is me again. I am trying to do something special and really nice for my brother who is a chief in the navy that has been deployed. He will be returning around June July 2012. I have done a lengthy search on google and have found some pretty cool US Navy Anchors and such but nothing for a Chief. and nothing with a pattern. I was thinking that i like to put it in a frame about 11x14 or around that size. Any help with this project would be greatly appreciated. and as always Thank you all kindly. Jesse

These are my latest finished projects. 1st the razor back i made. Little rough IMO was done in a few hours, was a late request for Xmas 2nd is just the picture of the box i put on the Portrait i made a few weeks back 3rd one is the pattern that Don helped me with. I did a little changing to it but for most part is downs pattern.

I have a question about blades in general not sure if this is the best place for it or not. if not will move to different topic. I dont use olson blades 1 cuz they dont sell them around my area. and 2 i just forget to order them on line to try them out. But i do use the Bosch blades from Lowes. i know these are going to be more low end blades, but i to have had some blades that were dull. I have also noticed they break easy and the spiral blades everyone talks about well they just plan suck. Never stay on track wonder alot and never can get them to keep good tension on them. 1st question is on spiral blades. is this because they are the cheaper blades or do spiral blades wonder a bit and getting right tension on them just difficult for a newbie. and 2nd question is besides the simple Yes of course they are. Are the more expensive Olson blades or others that much better of a blade for someone like me NEWBIE to notice or just stick with cheaper blades till i get better to see difference thanks Jesse

Marshall, to answer your question Yes and No lol, from start to finish it is. I made my first one of my wife a few weeks back which i posted while ago, It was with scrap wood and was to just see if i could do it I also made the "you are my everything" baby from the lib. but when i got done the wood had a flaw that i didnt see untill i stained it so i trashed that one. Thanks for the kind words guys, i think this type of work is challenging and a lot more meaningful then making signs for friends.

Hey guys Sorry i been away and have not shown my finished work from the pattern i received help on. With hunting and work i haven't had time to do anything. So here it is, I used a combination of the patterns that was sent to me, I had the In Loving Memory at the bottom which i am not sure i like the font. I also have to finish the frame for it. It is built just have to be stained. Plz let me know what you think all honest reviews are welcome, helps me improve. PS working on another one of Grampa's pattern he has posted in the lib of the baby in the hand will post when done again thanks all for the help and reviews

Hello all again I have been trying some patterns again and i have came across a few photos that when i follow the videos they come out almost black. I have used Gimp and PS3 I have done it the threshold way and the photocopy way. but when it comes down to final step it is like where all the white should be turns black and when you move the lvls it just make the black worse. Not sure if some photos cant but done or if it is just me

Thanks guys for all the post. I will be trying it again with different wood but only wood i can find from local hardware store is A/c Oak plywood. No birch with out ordering it or driving extra hour (s) away. So i am going to try on it and play around with some Stan or Paint so the grain dont take away from it. But this has large sections of wood with no grain so it should be ok. Mick the backer is just a tool box LOL i think i am going to use Black Flit for backer and then place in mats or just leave like that and let some one else point in frame mat etc. 1 other question tho. I have noticed some lines are really hard if not impossible to drill hole for to put blade in. any tips tricks on this. I have tried using the spiral blades but they get away from me and the cuts IMO are not as smooth. i cant seem to find a drill bit that is small enough to get into some of the lines with out going past them Thanks again Otho

Ok guys here it is My first try at cutting a portrait. This is the one from the pattern i posted few days ago and got some help with. Thanks again. Dont mind the wood it was just some scrap i had laying wanted to see if i was able to do it. Let me know what you think and what i can do to improve Thanks Otho
