    The tape works really well. I have found that clear packing tape works better. In harder woods it has lubricating effect on the blade. but I must admit having the blue background of the painter's tape is nice on the eyes.

    What is the model of the saw. I just received a Craftsman for Christmas and it is a counter clockwise release if that helps.

    I just joined the forum and wanted to say thanks to all who make these types of places available for those of us with not enough mind and time. I have been scrolling for a number of years and I am now on my third saw. I received it for Christmas and just working out all the kinks of a new saw. Matthew
