  1. Thanks to "Worbler" for supplying me with a pattern of Big Ben - well I have made a go of it and although far from perfect I think it would be recognisable - I did a compound cut and filled the whole piece with Liquid glass and fitted 4 fairly cheap clocks I also did the same thing with the Eiffel Tower (pattern supplied by Steve Good) one big mistake with the Eiffel Tower was that the Gem Coat 1-1 liquid glass when it dried out pulled the tower out of upright and spoilt the piece - never mind it was fun to do both pieces and that's the main thing eh. Thanks again Worbler - all the best - ROGER1734
  2. Hi Steve - like you I am new to scroll saw work but having started I am really enjoying it - I bought a Ryobi 16" variable speed saw which take both pinless & pinned blades it also allows you to put the blades in so you can cut sideways on - very useful if you are cutting a piece which is longer then the 16" depth of the saw also the price here in New Zealand is $249.00 about 125 pounds sterling I think is very reasonable. I used to live in the UK up until 6 years ago before moving here to NZ but when I was in the UK I had several tools made by Ryobi so I know that it is a make avaible in the UK. Hope this helps. Kind regards Roger
  3. Hi Clayton - thanks for the welcome and sorry for late reply - have not been too well of late but on the mend now and looking forward to doing some more scroll work soon. Regards Roger

Thanks for the welcome Kevin I look forward to reading the tips & tricks etc. to date I have been making puzles for the school children where my daughter teaches youngsters from 4 to 8 years old - trivets/coasters for home use and various other items - all in all very enjoyable and a bit of a break from wood turning. All the best Roger
  5. Hi I have just taken up scrollsaw work and must admit that I am very much taken with it - prior to I have been wood turning for about 3 1/2 years and making small furniture as well all of which I am thoroughly enjoying - I moved here to New Zealand from the UK some 6 years ago having been in the flooring trade all my working lfe - wood turning and making small furniture were alien to me but I have enjoyed it so much that I thought that scroll saw work would be another string to my bow as it were. I am looking forward to reading blogs on this site . Roger
