Thanks everyone for your replies, you are correct in that i'm attempting to cut from the inside out with great precision. Ive seen some videos on Youtube whilst Searching 'Scroll Saw coin' are pretty amazing but my scroll saw and/or blades simply don't offer that level of precision.. Bit of a tough one as i'm stumped! I'll try tonight with a Quarter as it ay be softer metal than an old British penny... thanks again for all your advice and pointers

Hello everyone, My name is Rob, I live in Australia and originally from Essex in the UK. I moved to Australia 10 years ago and have recently bought a scroll saw after a few months of consideration. If possible id like to ask for some advice as I bought a Deco Flex model with a 90W variable speed (550-1650rpm) motor in order to scroll old British and Australia pennies. I've seen people do it on Youtube with ease but my scroll saw is struggling and i'm not sure if its to do with the machine i'm using, the blades (Spiral flat end blade #1, #3, #5) or something else. Does anyone have experience with this sort of thing? I have managed to cut the coins using a homemade 3d cutting jig holding them in place but i'm no where near the precision required to cut out a kangaroo for example of an old Aussie penny. Any advice would be really appreciated. thanks so much and im so happy i found this site! I love it...
