  1. I was thinking about getting#5 or #7's. Hopefully they don't act like a chainsaw and cut decent and with some control in the soft pine type woods. I'm thinking the larger blades would cut a little faster and last longer.
  2. I'm have been cutting some larger projects lately that require the use of spiral blades. All I had on hand were some FD-NS 2/0 and they work but seem to be to small for the 3/4 to 1" thick Pine that I,m salvaging from pallets. My question is, what spiral blade size would be recommended for the thicker soft wood or even hard wood if I found some? Maybe some of you have had some experience in this area. Thanks in advance.

    Delta 40-694

I've had a 40-694 for 2 weeks now. This table on saw is huge, makes for a lot of area to support a project. It seems to operate with very little vibration, with one exception. When the speed is set in the 3-5 range it starts to make some sort of a speed related harmonic noise. I guess it doesn't really vibrate more but, there is some increased noise. Maybe someone here has an idea as to what might be the cause. This saw also cut more aggressively than my old craftsman. I may look into correcting the problem like other people have with the Dewalt 788. One more thing, the bottom blade clamp is bending the blade towards the cutting edge of the blade. If someone has a fix for this I would love to here it. All in all I really like this saw it is a huge improvement over the old craftsman 16". Once the few issues are resolved this will be an awesome upper end entry level saw.
  4. I really like the way that looks. Could you tell us what font you used and where to get it? I might have to try that finish mixture in the future.
  5. Sure I woke up to -24F this morning. It's 3:00pm and still -2F.
  6. Thank you for looking. I made it for a friend, I'll let him decide on a background color. Almost any color would look good depending on the situation.
  7. Here is the sugar skull pattern provided by Neptune.
  8. The maiden looks really nice. What blade did you use?
  9. Russian olive wood is something you don't see every day. I like it. Can be a very hard wood and comes in a wide range of colors. The knives look great.
  10. I've been staining both sides because the stain ends up running to the bottom side, so I brush the back just to even it up. Do you guy's stain both sides or just the front?
  11. I have looked at that web site and they do have a lot of nice looking wood. The projects that i was cutting out were about ten inches wide so I thought 1 x 12 pine would work best for me. I still think it will work well I just need to use some tape in the future. Ocoochhardwoods will be a place I'll be ordering from in the future.
  12. I have been having trouble with the last couple of projects that I have made out of pine. When I apply the stain the back side turns out looking better than the front (or display side). I thinking the problem that I'm having is caused from not having a substrate between the wood and the pattern. The spray adhesive I'm using is soaking into the wood and causing a barrier that won't let the stain penetrate. I've tried wiping repeatedly with mineral spirits and denatured alcohol to remove the glue residue and it didn't help. Looks like I'll have to start using painters tape or something else under the pattern. Have any of you Guy's noticed the same problem? What are your thoughts?

    A Rose

Go right ahead. It isn't my pattern, I found it on the scrollsawer forum.

    A Rose

This one is going to be sent to my wife's aunt in Oregon. I gave her one of the Wyoming bucking horse and rider magnets that I make, and was showing her some of other things that I've cut. When she asked if I had ever done a Rose. After looking around for a pattern this is the one that I liked the most. She doesn't know that she is getting it. Hope she likes it.
  15. Looks really nice. A piece like that would have taken me longer than 5 or 6 hours for sure.
