  1. Its called "The wood mill" in Windsor, Ontario. I cannot find thier website, every time I try, its bringing me to a "marina" store website thats beside them. Pretty sure the ones I got, were a special buy they brought in, they still got a few stacks of them.
  2. Awesome - Seemed like a pretty good deal to me. Most likely gunna go back to them and get some different kinds to contrast each wood if need be. Thank guys!
  3. Alright guys I finally found a local supplier from where I am, that does hardwood. I was so excited, I had to go out there and get a few boards. Here's the kicker Waiting for the blades in the mail now :( Got 2 boards of each, Cherry, and Maple. 1/2 inch thickness. 6"x5ft Decent for $30?
  4. Thunder Bay is closest. haha. Im right near detriot - nothing around me! :(
  5. Thank you! Is this site the best to be ordering off of? How fast do they deliever? (EXPENSIVE shipping to Canada! Trying to find one thats more "Canadian" based! )
  6. Yeah, I read up on it quite a bit before hand, I just wanted to see how this would look like or how it worked out. Didnt wanna stack 3/4 peices which I had. haha. Thanks everyone I will try it again properly and post the next version of this once i get can the blades in and proper wood.
  7. Been working with scrap wood lately, Only thing I had was 3/4 left that was decently big enough for the pattern. Can't stack 2 3/4 peices, thats way to big! haha. Yeah, Ill deff try to do some stack cuts and do the inlays "properly" when I get my blades in the mail. Big box ones really didnt want to move with the wood instead of "bend" and "twist" sideways. Thanks tho! Ill keep trying! thats for sure!! Thanks, Keep trying different things and seeing how they look with my "lack" of experiance!
  8. Would it be even worth filling all dem holes?! Advice on if I should just redo the inside one?
  9. Not stained yet, nor glued together or filled. TONS of holes, Didnt do the inlay properly, Wood was too thick to stack for the stacking method. Also, I suck at following the lines apparently. Didnt have good blades, only home depot ones left to work with. Waiting for some in the mail, but had the itch to finish it!
  10. Thanks guys After watching a few hours of "howto" scroll saw, I feel like I can do anything! haha.
  11. Crupiae, Those are awesome! Yeah Travis, I Favorited that website you've sent, Im going to look up more "stencil" patterns and just adjust them as needed.
  12. Be nice Trying out different cuts, and different blades. The second batman, Im cutting an inlay to be placed inside, but need new blades! These are the product after finished.
  13. Aweseome, Thanks alot Everyone. Just looking for something other then "nature" or "biblical" patterns. Coming from a more "younger" adult then some, mid 20's, Nature patterns and other items like that don't really tickle my fansy, If you know what I mean.. Ill keep an eye on the pattern library, and I have been trying a few things myself lately. Ill post after I finish it, waiting for more blades to come in the mail from www.mikesworkshop.com
  14. Awesome - Ill keep en eye on that site and look over it some more. Not fond on spending the money on it, possibly just try to make my own?
  15. Anyone know of a site, or someone posting patterns of modern pop culture? I can find tons of nature scenes or word art, but nothing really pops for pop culture or the modern "tv show/movie" culture for us " young" adults. Thanks! I've seen Walking dead references and super hero ones on the forum, Where about do you find these, or just make them yourself?
  16. Awesome work on the hobbit! I always like the pop culture things over nature imo.
  17. Ahhh! Lucky! I keep looking online for scroll saws around where I am. Smaller town, so not so much choices when it comes to used items that are this rare to find online. Keeping an eye out for a pinless one! I wanna try more fretwork.
  18. Yeah, Mine is like this aswell, U shaped with a allen key chuck, I guess you could call it, to close around the pinless blades. Everytime I want to change the blade, or move the blade into another position to do an internal cut, I have to take the entire blade system off and remount the adapters. Not fun. haha.
  19. Awesome! Always a fan of the Walking dead! haha. Wish I could try that pattern!
  20. Yeah, I've been fooling around with it quite a bit - Just a hassle changing the blades out, or even getting the blades into the adapters. The adapters kind of hang on the pinned area on the scroll saw. Just curious is anyone else had the problem at first aswell. Hard to save up, when I have my first born coming in the next month and a few days! haha. Life gets in the way of having fun
  21. Hey Guys I've got a "cheap" rockwell Scroll saw, which takes pinned blades as a default. ( Which I cannot find any good blades, with pins!) It came with an adapter that allows you to switch to pinless blades, but its a massive hassle and not the easiest thing to work with/change blades. Any Advice, or anyone else have a problem like this when they were starting off?
  22. Thanks! That online site is a great start. I watched the tutorials on them a couple days ago - Just wanted to see how other people are doing them!
  23. Curiosity is killing me - How many hours into this?
  24. Thanks, I picked up some thicker 3/4 oak plywood from my parents house, and going to try some practice on them when my new blades come in the mail. Been using regular tooth blades, from Home depot, but the tear out was ridiculous. So I ordered some Reverse blades online to test them out and see how much of a difference they will make. Practice is the key I've been told. haha. I might try the dumpsters or cabinet shops around town - walk in and ask majority? I've figured out how to use one hand as a pivot point, but trying to get the technique of how fast to turn it or how wide/short to make the turns, It all comes with practice, I know that. Any tips will help - That's for sure!!
  25. Awesome, Thanks guys - I was using cheap plywood and pieces were not holding together when I did think cuts, due to crappy layers in the plywood.
