  1. Well done Rob. I'm finding that certain "festivals" do better than others... Keep track of each event, try them once or twice and then determine if each event is worth your time. I've scratched through several this year.
  2. Harvey is a puzzle pattern prostitute, he'll draw anything for money. ;-) Seriously, any idea or design, he'll do it. He's made me a lot of money with the custom ones he's drawn upon request as well as just new designs like the mermaids.
  3. Someone stole my unique, original design?!?!?! LOL
  4. My next event in a couple of weeks... Port City Ribfest... here in my town. It's a 3 day event. I had Harvey design 4 new ones for me and I cut a set today.
  5. Actually, yes, I did Texas also... State-TX.pdf
  6. Fabulous. Very nicely done.
  7. If interested, here are the other states I've done patterns for to give you an idea of how/where to place the lettering... State-NY.pdf State-SC.pdf State-VA.pdf
  8. Even better, I'll add it right here for free. :-) NOTE: Be sure to connect the "N" to the main piece. The pattern shows a slight gap. I never intended to share the pattern, so I didn't make it perfect/pretty. NC.pdf
  9. So... Long story short, a tourist shop in Wilmington, the "big city" near me wants to stock some of my puzzles. She mentioned that anything with WILMINGTON or NORTH CAROLINA are very popular, so I called Harvey and have him putting WILMINGTON in the body of the swimming mermaid for me and in the meantime I showed the owner of the shop this simple thing I've made a couple of times. I didn't keep it in stock at my shows since it wasn't a puzzle although it had proven to be somewhat popular. I simply found a detailed outline of my state, found a font I liked and laid it out so that it would stand up straight and level. Then I used a wood burner to put a heart over our location. I had done it for a couple of other nearby states but never displayed or tried to promote them. But if you do craft events, you may want to consider doing it for your home state. Quick and simple. She loved it, so I just made 6 of them to deliver to her tomorrow.
  10. Thanks everyone. I appreciate the assistance and the offers. Ray has offered to make one for my friend. If Ray doesn't share an image of the finished product, I will.
  11. When I click on the link it opens to a picture of a BEATLES themed vinyl record at the very top. Two different ones. There are lots and lots of picture beneath them, but I'm interested in what is showing at the top. Is that not what you're seeing?
  12. I have a friend that is a Beatles fanatic and is looking to buy a couple of things for herself and her kids as Christmas gifts and as I'm looking for patterns to cut for her, I came across these two pieces that I think she would absolutely love, but I've never cut vinyl records before and don't have time to practice and learn so I wondered if anyone would be interested in a couple of projects? If so, please let me know how much you'd charge per item and I can let her know. https://www.pinterest.com/pin/36732553194087559/ https://www.pinterest.com/pin/417145984212159380/ Thanks! Iggy
  13. I mounted mine to a small piece of wood and have it sitting on a concrete block. You could just slap together a wood box/riser and get the same effect.
  14. I enjoy cutting the outlines of the animals, and the individual pieces. I dislike the detail inside cutting of closed loop letters, eyes and kerf cuts for fur. Sometimes I'll do that middle step for a stack of 10 of puzzles just so I can enjoy the puzzle piece cutting for a few hours without having to do the annoying parts. I don't mind doing the layout... I challenge myself to squeeze as many patterns onto a 6ft board as I can.
  15. You're exactly right Kevin. I mentioned it in my booklet that I wrote... Don't look like you're camping... You're there to sell. It doesn't mean you can't sit, rest and check your phone periodically, but don't be lounging in a low, comfy chair staring at your phone. Be attentive, be aware of when people are coming up to your booth and greet them. Don't jump at 'em with a sales pitch, just say Hi and let it go forward from there. Then pounce on them with the hard sell.
  16. Yeah, never any problem making a profit. Usually only have to sell 2 puzzles to clear costs. But I went in expecting to sell 100 puzzles over the weekend so it was a major letdown. Can't hit a homerun every time at bat.
  17. The dog show I've been looking forward to for a few months finally arrived, and... it was a TOTAL BUST. What a waste of a day. I won't be going back for day 2 after packing up 2 hours early today after selling 11 puzzles. My worst event ever. The owners/handlers of the dogs came in for their event piece, then left. At least now I don't have to buy an RV and start traveling with the dog shows. :-) I have 3 weeks off before my next event and I'm looking forward to the down time. I have plenty to make for the RibFest BBQ event, but it's all at a leisurely pace.
  18. I use Olson Mach Speed #3 for my puzzles cut from 3/4" poplar. When I need to use a bigger blade, I like the Olson Precision Ground Tooth (#5 and #7)
  19. Beautiful work. Very nice.
  20. That'll be $500 please.
  21. Speaking of GoldenDoodle... I had Harvey do me a custom one with the same body but it just says DOODLE. If you want it, email me. I'll give it to you since you bought the others.
  22. This one isn't much more fun to cut... another mop head...
  23. Attention all dog puzzle cutters... if you ever get asked if you can make a TIBETAN... SAY NO!!!! Someone is going to own a one-of-a-kind... cuz I ain't makin' another one of these!!!! Take a close look at the fur cuts just in the head and you'll see why.
  24. The DeWalt until I'm through the event season. I hope/plan to use the Hawk during the winter restocking months to get used to it and to put it to a solid test.
  25. Bunch of snooty, fancy, furry dogs... the last 10 I have to cut are the furriest and most annoying to make. Not sure I'll want to do any more dog shows.... unless I sell 100 puzzles, then I'll reconsider.
