  1. Thank you all.
  2. I was asked by a friend who does a lot of walking if I would make him a staff. Anyway I've just finished wrapping the hande and sealing it. Just thought I'd show it to you all before I take it round to his house. Regards Peter
  3. Nice work. Well done.
  4. Our local supplier in England for the Excalibur EX16 is a company called Axminster Tools. I called them this morning regarding the above as to how easy they are to use and how noisy as I live in an apartment. They suggested I call down as they have one set up in their workshop for me to see and have a try on, so I'll be heading down there when I'm next off work. This is the model im looking at. Regards Peter.
  5. Thank you all for your kind words it's appreciated.
  6. As you know I am in the market for a machine and I've decided on the Excalibur EX16. I was wondering if there are any of you on the forum who live near Manchester. It would be nice to actually see one up close and personal instead of just on You Tube. If you don't ask you don't get as mum use to say. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  7. I usually use limewood for carving but a friend gave me a piece of boxwood the other week. This is how it ended up.
  8. I purchase it from a mill in Preston. Do you have carving equipment yourself.
  9. Thank you.
  10. They are beautiful. Where did you get the patterns please.
  11. Thank you for your kind replies to my introduction to your forum. How happy I am that I joined because after looking over the forums and reading all the comments about various machines I am having a change of mind as to which one I will choose. I was looking at the Hegner Multicut 1 originally but I seem to be getting draw towards the Excalibur EX 16.. I like the idea of the quick blade exchange and the way the machine tilts while leaving the table flat. Saying that I don't know the first thing about scrolling as yet. But from all the things I've read today I'm sure it will be a good choice. It seems they have gone through a rebranding here in England through a company called Axminster but I'm assured they are the same machine. If anyone in England has bought from this company please will you let me know how you went on. Kind Regards Peter.
  12. I use mainly limewood.
  13. My name is Peter and I am 61 years of age. I drive buses for a living which can be quite stressful at times. I have been carving for about two years now and I came upon a video on You Tube while watching a carving tutorial on scroll saw work. It really looks like a great add on to my current hobby. I have been looking at various models some cheap some expensive and I have decided to save up for the variable speed Hegner Multicut 1. I'm hoping that someone within the group has this particular machine and can reassure me that I have chosen wisely. As we live in an apartment noise I was wondering how much noise these machines make as it would be an issue of course yet from the videos I've seen they don't seem too bad. I've not seen many videos on this particular model but they say to purchase a quick release for blade removal on inside cuts. Anyway hopefully some of you kind people out there will help me out and I look forward to posting some topics when I eventually get set up and proffitiant enough. Here are a few of my carvings by the way. Kind Regards Peter.
