Hello from SW Washington. I've only recently started using a scrollsaw... before this I did a lot of yard things with a jigsaw. The truth is, I lost my youngest son the end of June. As a way of trying to keep me from sinking further into depression from losing my oldest and youngest sons, my exhusband bought me a scroll saw to try to help me stay busy. Its nothing fancy but the fact is it is helping me some. I've made cuts I would have never been able to do with a jigsaw that's for sure. I've busied myself making things my sons liked in their memory. I've made a few smaller items for my daughters as well and plan to make them gifts for Christmas that they will treasure for years to come.
