  1. Here is the final stained product.
  2. Second project cut, just need to stain it. Originally it said support your local farmer underneath , but I screwed up the letters so I just cut them off. Need to practice cutting letters.
  3. Brady, occupation "Navy".  Thank you for your service and glad to have you in the village.  Are you stationed in Bremeteron? My son retired from the Navy two years ago.  He was a F-18 pilot.  Call sign Spool.  Name Cmdr. Brian Douglass.  I know the Navy is big, but just thought there is a possibility at some point your paths may have crossed.

Not a whole lot of scrollers in the North West.  A military scroller is even more unusual.   Something to do with moving every few years probably.

Anyway, I thought I'd say hi, I feel like Navy is family after following my son's career for 23 years.  I was in the Marines, for a hitch.  Did not make a career of it and always kinda regretted not doing so.

Thanks again for your service.  Hope to get more acquainted on the forum as time passes.  If you ever get to the SE side of the state, let me know.  We could have lunch or something.

Oopss,  I looked again at your profile and the map shows Washington DC.  The other Washington!  So you are not in Washington State.  Oh well all I said still applies, although I doubt you ever travel to the SE part of Washington State.  Well if for some reason you do, lunch is still on me.

I am in Bremerton, maybe I screwed up the location. Not sure if I ever ran into your son, I will have to look in my cruise books. Thank you for the warm welcome to the forum.

  4. That looks amazing!
  5. Well here is the finished product.
  6. Thank you all for the kind words. I did not know that the knot in there would be an issue and didn't realize it was there until I took the template off. On another note I have put my first coat of stain on it seems a little blotchy, did some searching found folks recommended a pre-conditioner. I will add some more stain and maybe a satin clear. I will post another pic when it is complete.
  7. Finally finished my first project, now it needs sanded and stained. It isn't perfect but it was a good learning piece.
  8. Thank you all for the welcome. So far this is what I got done on my first project. Definitely have a lot to learn
  9. Damn autocorrect on phones. Have a blast so far starated my first real project last night.
  10. Greetings everyone, my name is Brady and I am just learning to scroll. Decided I needed to find a hobby since I will be retiring from the Navy if a couple of years. Hope to learn a lot here, so from I am having ingredients a blast.
