  1. The weights are non-functional. This is a quartz cuckoo movement.
  2. I got mine in August & it works great. Trying to take care of my lungs and eyes a little better nowadays.
  3. I ordered this package deal Saturday. By far the best deal I've seen for the Dewalt.
  4. Really nice. Great work.
  5. Very nice plaque!
  6. The clock plan is from Scroller. I also purchased the quarts movement from them. I found out later I could buy the same movement from Clockparts.com at half the cost ($82).
  7. These detailed projects take time & patience. Which I have being retired now. I may only work an hour or two on a project each day to maintain focus. I move to other non-scrolling projects and tasks through the day. I find myself planning for each day's scrolling projects by thinking & visualizing steps in the evening (and night).
  8. Since it is an electronic system, the weights are decorative only, It is battery operated.
  9. This is a project I completed earlier this year. Not an old time bellows cuckoo. It has a working electronic cuckoo.
  10. Thanks for the great comments. I used 1/4' red oak for most of the box. I did use 1/4" white oak for a few of the parts though. Not by intent but by necessity (ran out of red oak)! It's a Wlildwood design (pattern 62341 Treasure Chest). Seems I look for more challenges after cutting for 2 years. This was cut with a Craftsman saw I have used since I started. Came across a good deal for a Dewalt saw package with stand and light. Probably saved around $200 on the Grizzly site. A friend has been using one and really likes it. Great reviews. Anyway, "Don't worry, be happy"
  11. I finally completed the bent lid box, in-between other projects. I used pins, glue and clamps to make the lid bend. Since it was only a 7 degree bend it was not too hard. Thanks for all the input that I will reference for other projects.
  12. I'm starting a box project that has a curved top. Since I have never bent wood ( this calls for 1/4") I am looking for input on how to do this. The box lid is bent down to 1/4" from center to box sides. Is any wood better than others? I am planning to use white oak. Thoughts on clamps is also appreciated.
  13. I typically use sanding files, belt sander and oscillating drum sander for my work. What other methods/tools are used for smaller projects? Is a flap sander an option for this smaller work?thanks for the input.
  14. Hello from Southwest Kansas, USA. I just registered with Scroll Saw Village. I've been scrolling for about six months now, after another retired acquaintance introduced me to the hobby. I really needed to have something to help me get through the winter months, especially during my first year of retirement, I find I do have the patience and desire to complete scroll work with the detail it requires for a nice finished work. Lately I have made a couple of intermediate Victorian style clocks and have purchased patterns for larger, more intricate clock projects. Harley Davidson plaques are interesting and popular with personal friends. Just recently I have a request for using Harley plaques with the names, dates and birth weight of family children in place of the Harley wording. If anyone has a scroll pattern I can use for this purpose I would certainly like to see these. I have a sample pattern attached although I am unsure of how to cut this with the letter/number inner cutouts being separate. I would appreciate any feedback on this project and also look forward to being part of the Scroll Saw Village community.
