  1. I also get Scrollsaw Woodworking and Crafts and enjoy it. I'm also not a seasoned scroller so their patterns are still interesting and challenging to me.
  2. Welcome to The Village. I've only been here a few months myself and feel very at home. Learned a lot from my own questions and even more from other scroller's questions that get answered here.
  3. Welcome to the Village!!!
  4. They are all fantastic!!! Great job!!!
  5. Oops- you asked for them, that was your mistake . Actually, she was OK with me taking a few of them- she had plenty.
  6. When I started, I stole a few of my wife's emery boards- same effect as a needle file- can trim it to a point to get real tight places. Different grit on each side.
  7. I started to keep a progress log but that went by the wayside real quick. I worked on it off and on so really have no idea the total time on it. Hopefully the next one takes less than 3 years. Those day jobs really get in the way.
  8. That is a great job and a sign of true Brotherly Love!!!
  9. Thank you all for the kind words. My wife likes it but coming from all you wood artists is really special. Thanks again!!
  10. I've done a few Segmentations but I've always wanted to do this pattern since the 1st time I saw it. I actually started it in April of '15 but only able to work on it on and off. The plan was to have it done before the Eagles first super bowl, figured I had a lot of time and didn't have to rush. Oh well, it's for the 1st anniversary. I used Cherry, Aspen, Walnut and Red Oak. Luckily all the mistakes aren't noticeable from the picture but pretty happy with how it turned out and learned a lot.
  11. Great job!! Love how that looks.
  12. Excellent job!! Love Steve Good's patterns. I've also working on getting in shape---fortunately round is a shape!!!
  13. Thank you all for the welcome and Marg- you are 100% correct that I started out with something that was way over my head but I loved that pattern from the first time I saw it and no matter what I cut I wasn't happy unless I gave it a go no matter how it turned out. I am to the point of finishing it. There are a lot of mistakes and I'll probably redo it in a few years but it has been fun, I've learned a whole lot and have gotten the confidence to keep giving things a try. Fran
  14. Hello Everyone. Love reading about and seeing the incredible pieces on these boards, hoping to get to that level someday. I've been a casual scroller for about 5 years. Bought an inexpensive Craftsman about 10 years ago but never really got started until my son needed a paddle to decorate for the fraternity he was joining. We couldn't find what he needed anywhere except for one that was a keychain. I was able to make a copy of it, blow it up to make a pattern and it turned out to be exactly what he needed. I was hooked. Found some Beginner books and simple patterns and cut away. I've tried some fretwork but don't seem to have the patience and steady enough hand for the intricate work (maybe I can blame the saw) but I liked segmentation and am in the midst of finishing up my first intarsia piece, the flying eagle from Scroller magazine. When I say casual I mean I started that eagle in April of 2015 but am finally at the stage of putting it together and will post it when it's finished. It is far from perfect but has been enjoyable. Well that's my long-winded introduction but as the winter sets in I hope to become very involved in this forum and pick all your brains in hopes of becoming more confident to try different patterns. Thank you for listening (reading) Fran
