  1. Thanks again for making the pattern for me
  2. Yes and thank you again
  3. I have a really "big scroll saw" No each the staff is made of individual 11" long pieces for each line of the staff. The notes are one piece cut with the exception of the triple note which I cut in 2 pieces and glued together. Thanks to all for the comments as it reinforces my desire to strive to become a good scroller.
  4. It is 4 ft high and 7 ft long. As for paper it was 42 pages of 8.5 x 11.
  5. Well I finally finished the project. My wife loves it. I have learned a lot that I can now better myself on other projects. I used Rapid Re-sizer to enlarge the pattern (42 pages of 8.5 x 11 ") cutting each staff piece individually and gluing together. This has been made from all 1 x 10 pine with the notes stained with dark walnut and the staff with semi-gloss spray. I left the staff to have a hand drawn effect hence the irregular lines/spacing.
  6. Painless blades..... hmmm now that would be an excellent invention for the next time you run your finger a little too close to the blade.
  7. Hi Erv, sorry for the late reply. My in-laws are Percy and Elsie Lilly.
  8. Welcome to the village. My in-laws live in Corner Brook. Cheers from NB Brian

Welcome from Rusagonis New Brunswick Canada. You will enjoy hours of scrolling as I have found out in the last 4 months. Brian
  10. I designed it myself using MS Publisher.
  11. Thanks for all the comments. I am glad I have found this site as it is a great experience to meet many gifted scrollers. Merry Christmas to all this year.
  12. This started off as an running joke with a good friend of ours so I decided to try a simple sign design to see if it would turn out. I used 3/4" pine for the letters and a 1/4" birch ply backer. I used Edwardian Script ITC for the letters and I stained the backer with Dark Walnut and use Gloss spray lacquer on the letters and a quick coat to seal the backer board.
  13. Melanie, great work. I tried it and love doing it.
  14. Thanks for all the comments.
  15. Very impressive
  16. I was cleaning up my shop and ended up with a pile of scrap pallet wood and a chunk of maple. So I figured to lessen the amount of scrap I needed to get rid of I reused some of what I had. I pulled both patterns from Steve Good's site. The flower and vase is all pallet wood (pine) I intentionally left the flower pedals rough to give to appearance of texture. I maple I turned into something for my wife to make her day. On both pieces I used Minwax Walnut stain and spray gloss lacquer. (I should have removed the vase in behind lol)
  17. The stain I used was Minwax Penetrating Stain Classic Gray #271.
  18. Wow those are amazing!
  19. Hi Francesco and welcome to the village. I have found this site and the members extremely helpful and friendly. I just started scrolling about 3 months ago. I ending up buying a Dewalt 788 20" saw and love it. Your friend from Canada
  20. Well I thought I would try doing letters. I used this pattern from Steve Good's site. It is done with 1/4" birch and the backing was made from old pieces of pallets I had laying around. The backer was stained with one quick coat and wiped off immediately to give the appearance of weathered wood. I finished it with spray gloss lacquer, not sure it shows in the picture or not. I noticed after I placed the letters that I was off on my squareness but oh well I think it still turned out pretty good.
  21. I had no say in the colour. I am just the guy that scrolls it.
  22. Fantastic work
  23. I decided to try doing fretwork. I used Steve Good's pattern. This is my first time ever trying this. My wife wanted a remote control holder. She liked the grey (not me) but as they say " A happy wife a happy life" I used 1/4" Birch plywood and a #3 blade for the bigger cuts and #1 for the fine cuts.
  24. Looks great. Well done and can't wait to see more of your work.
  25. Hi from Canada and welcome to the village.
