  1. I live in a rural area. All i have is a home depot. They have mdf, poplar, cedar pine and some oak. I think bell forest has free shipping if you spend 100 bucks. I gotta mail order anything that is not junk wood.
  2. Thanks!!!!
  3. Lol. I know that’s a bad word! Iam doing a small local craft show. I am cutting ornaments out of 1/4 mdf for a christmas in july kinda thing. Basically its what i can afford right now! I will sell these then buy better wood. Anyways. I tried painting them with acrylic and it way a clumpy nightmare and it took forever. I want to spraypaint them. Do I primer the mdf first? I want it to look nice and smooth. Whats a good white spraypaint? Krylon?
  4. Whats blo and naptha? If you paint it. May white on the birch and a white shabby shiek frame?
  5. The scroll saw is so versitle. It cuts wood plastic and metal. It makes flat stuff 3d stuff boxes gears etc. one saw has kept me busy cheaply for a year!

    Hiya

I am scroll saw addict! Its the only woodworking i do. All i have is a saw, a drill press and a sander. I have a porter cable scroll i will upgrade when it breaks one day. I live in Texas and scroll pretty much every day. 90% of what i make is Christmas ornaments and word art. I make patterns on my ipad. I will upload them as soon as i figure out how to do it. I got like ten of them. Attached a monkey portrait i did.
  8. Thanks guys. I ordered 144 #5 skip tooth pegas blades. I am gonna cut the ornaments out of poplar. Didnt know that about pine thanks!
  9. Thanks! Gonna order some #7 Pegas blades.
  10. I just got into making 3d ornaments. I am still getting used to sawing through wood this thick. Its 1 1/2 inch thick pine. I usually cut 1/4 inch poplar. I used a geometry #5 pegas. Love pegas but they broke alot. And it was slow going. Then used a skiptooth olsen#5. Better but still slow. Is it just my saw? A porter cable. Ive seen dewalts go pretty fast though thick wood. Maybe a different blade? I put packing tape around the wood and put it in a jig.
  11. Out of a ornament pattern book.
