  1. thank you all for your kind words. sometimes i wish my brain would stop!!!! i just ordered a 16x20in poster if this picture. i am going to 3D the picture i sent to him and then 3D adam holding it along with part of the background. going to use 5 layers of foam core poster board. this one is 3 layers of foam board. what is funny is it sold to the first person i showed it to.
  2. so then there was this.... i could cry...
  3. thank you for the review Keven. i have never used an EX but am thinking of getting one for my wife. i started with a wen, then a craftsman, and now the hawk vs226. the hawk is many levels ahead of my first 2. i have the same vibration problem at 5/8 speed but did eliminate the low speed vibration by making and H frame to fit the inside bottom of the legs. on the cross bar of the H i added a platform with 40lbs of weight and keep my "go tool box", about an other 20lbs and now i have zero vibration up to the 5/8 speed. chris
  4. i think i have posted before that Dyslexia has kicked my but my whole life. it is not that i can not read but long reads become a jumble of words that loose a lot of meaning until i have read it many times. this is why i always "wait for the movie". being a fan of Adam Savage of Mythbusters became a downer knowing he had written a book that i am sure would not make it to film. when the preface was released it took me 4 readings over 5 days to remember only 25% of what i had read. THEN i found he recorded the audiobook himself. i got it 2 weeks ago and it is wonderful! it was great to hear that i had so much in common with this "Maker" of so many things and learning many more i did not know that i am now on my 3rd listen. not because i couldn't remember but because i find it so entertaining that he reads it like he is talking straight to me. so weather you are a reader or like to listen to something while you work i recommend this book. i made this from a photo of adam while i listened the first time. 3D adam savage.mp4
  5. my mistake... 83.7 sorry for the typo
  6. i thank all for your input. i did not account for the fire hazard for my temporary fix. the system i am making is like one we had in the wood shop in high school. tomorrow i am cutting so it will be up and running by wednesday. i will post pics when i am done. (fan is 2400rpm and pipe is 4" = 83.7 cfm)
  7. bought the stuff today to make it a bypass system. you just put that the priority before next paint day.
  8. that is always a place!!! still use that for spray glue.
  9. most of you know i worked out of half a 10 x 20 portable building. i had scroll days and paint days. well we got the other half open for painting but the fumes kept me from scrolling after painting so i bought an $18 4in inline hose fan. now i can do both. i plan to move it to use as a bypass system to keep the paint from building up on the fan when i am done gearing up for next months show. it has worked well enough i am also thinking of putting one in the saw room to help clear floating dust my vac doesn't get so i can stop wearing a mask. hope this might help others. chris
  10. i have spent too much time at work and not enough in the shop or here. i have a show tomorrow and the "Superman Celebration Super Con " in Metropolis, Il in june. i uploaded some patterns for Mother's day and Father's day. thank you all for your encouragement . have a blessed day.
  11. I had a lul in portrait ideas so too inspiration from the puzzles post here. I did a pattern search on Google and found some patterns. All of these together took less time than one portrait. Thank you all
  12. the Joneses wouldn't let me take their picture, so i had to settle for "the Greens"
  13. long time no see. sometimes life gets in the way of spending time in the shop. i did manage a few hours this week to finish a portrait i began in Oct. before my new knee. this is project for pleasure. on the left: John Green, author of "a fault in out stars" and "Paper towns" on the right, john's brother" Hank Green, author of "an absolutely remarkable thing". together they began several educational channels on youtube and a channel called "Vlogbrothers" that has built a huge community that raised 1.5 million dollars this past December for "Drs without borders" among many others. in the center: Ester Earl, one of the first members of the vlogbrothers continuity and one of the most loving people i have ever seen. her amazingly positive outlook on life could not be shaken even by her terminal illness. she passed away at age 16 but lives on in the hearts of countless people that never knew who she was until she passed away. you can read her story in the book "this star won't go out". you can also see how she effected John Green by reading or watching the movie "a fault in our stars" , a story John based on Esther.
  14. i had a woman contact me for a gift for her son. he is a fan of the game Fallout. thankfully she sent a few pics cause i would not have known what i was looking for. one had a flag as a background so my pattern included a flag but i didn't like how it looked when i was done. so i cut the guy out, ditched the rest , and made a background with stuff my crafty wife bought the day before.
  15. congrats i love my VS226. almost 0 vibration up to 7 on the dial. i am in a portable building so the floors will vibrate from a mouse fart. i also have an extra top and bottom blade holder. better ready if i need it so i have no down time.
