  1. Been working on my spring/summer project...building a green house. Waiting for cement to cure and it's snowing....so had some time to spend in the shop. I got a foot switch. Don't know if I like it or not. Trying to find a rhythm.
  2. ....wow....that's almost like having a real job.
  3. The latest. I like the character that comes through each of the characters. Thoughts.....
  4. ...so, have been following this w/interest. Is a deadman switch called a "deadman switch", because if "the man" drops over dead, the equipment stops? This is not a deadman switch. This is just a switch, correct. https://www.harborfreight.com/momentary-power-foot-switch-96619.html This is a deadman switch, correct? https://www.amazon.com/MLCS-9080-Billy-Switch-Deadman/dp/B000LJNJOE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1523831913&sr=8-1&keywords=deadman+switch

  6. Nice shop. My basement shop was a bedroom. I love it. Nice ShopSmith. What year? Looks like you're running a band saw, a jointer and 6" belt sander on it. What is the extra piece you're running on the drill press? Did you make your fliptop cabinet for the mitre box? Never cared for the ShopSmith table saw, because we had the Craftsman. Summer after I graduated high school, I spent building dulcimers. I had a "jig", if you could call it that for cutting head and tail blocks. It ran on the table outside the blade so I could make a 6" cut. It was pretty scary to do.....but I made it work. What is this?
  7. ....well, darn it.....I cut it twice...and it's still too short.
  8. Wow....that's cool. I am experienced. My parents were not really sure what was happening when my music suddenly changed for Simon/Garfunkel to Are you experienced?
  9. Really nice stuff. Is the butterfly piece and the mounting piece different pieces? The grain appears to match.
  10. That is great. Really like the clock idea. I have a similar in the queue.
  11. Thanks! for all the ideas. Here is my solution. A blade box. Pretty basic. 1/4" plywood, sliding plexiglass top. Holds 16 tubes.
  12. Thanks! for all this info. Any problem w/taking a pinned blade and knocking the pin out. When I got the Wen, I bought some pin blades. I have already done this and does not seem to be a problem. Just got my first spiral blades. Will get into those today. Got 6 patterns glued up yesterday.....ready to go. Cold, frozen morning. I'll be in the basement.
  13. Thank! This is good info. Good ideas. Once again, I'm having too much fun figuring /building stuff for my shop.
  14. So far I have about 15 sizes/kinds of blades. I got a 20 pack of tubes to keep them in. Looking at building some kind of holder to keep them in. How many different blades do you have and how many different blades do you actually use?
  15. Nothi'n makes a shop more like a shop than have the supervisor around. Cute pupp'ner dog.
  16. ...you know.....I think a shop that is not cluttered.... ....well, there isn't much going on in that shop. .....just say'n.
  17. This is a cool idea. We can all rob ideas for our shops from everyone else.. ....so, I'm very blessed to have two shops. A garage shop, for the big stuff, and a basement shop for the fine work. I live in the house that my dad built and I grew up in. Many of the tools were his and the tools I Iearned on. The basement shop is one of the back bedrooms in the basement. Man caves w/pin ball machines and big tvs are ok for a few hours....but these caves.....they are for a life time of fun.
  18. The sun/moon was my first scroll saw project that I painted. It was painted after. I use spray paint. It takes some time because it has to be taped off to paint the different colors. If it's going to be a saved project, I would spray a clear coat sealer after all the painting is done.
  19. Not my dog....but very nice. What exactly is fiber board?
  20. .....may be too late....... I have a stack of patterns printed out and ideas to modify each one in a different way.
  21. Second project....adding some definition to the sun and the moon. This is just too much fun.
  22. I like this a lot. I'm playing w/this idea to embellish band saw boxes.
  23. Not trying to be "too" nosey....but... do you set this up on an assembly line kind of thing?? Rough cut all the pieces, glue patterns to all of them, then start cutting. Are you setup to receive cc payments? Is that hard to get setup?
  24. Wow..... that is really cool. How much time to think you have in each piece?
