Thanks, Jack. I didn't try that because the play isn't in the back, it's at the trunnion in the front. -

I would love to see that article, but I can't seem to find it. -

Thanks, orangeman This play happens even when the table is removed from the equation. With just the trunnion attached to the base it will move a tad when tightened. I was wondering about the "washer thingy" I have tried it with the protrusion inside the trunnion and with it inside the knob but the result is the same. -

That's ok. I do understand. It does take some force to move the table. But holding down the workpiece is enough to move it. This isn't exactly an entry level tool where I would expect to see something like this. -

So the trunnion replacement came last week. I installed it and the problem persisted. My Amazon return window was closing so I sent it back to them and ordered another one. The new saw arrived the day after I sent back the old one. I put it together - SAME PROBLEM WITH THIS ONE! I emailed Delta and they said their only solutions are to take it to a repair shop or return the saw. I'm bummed. This is my price point and I can't make it work. Grr. -
$315 on Amazon for the last couple of days for some reason.

I've been making some pens on the lathe lately. I'm not missing any shop time. -

I have no problem returning items to Amazon. I might be their best customer However, the box was a bit mangled. I can order another and send this one back in the new box. We shall see. I do want to scroll, but I can be patient. -

If the trunnion doesn't work, I'll probably just return it. The trunnion is an easy swap, not so much with the other part. I purchased from Amazon. 30 day to return it. -

The movement is in the front. As suggested, I have removed the table from the trunnion to demonstrate this. Here is a video I made last night. This happens when the zero pointer/ball is installed and it happens when it is removed. Delta has sent a replacement trunnion. They think it's either that or the cast base. -

Since the table just pivots on the back pin, I'm not sure what you're suggesting. -

I think the problem is that the curve of the trunnion doesn't match the curve of the base. You say that the movement is in the back, bit I can see it in the front. That 1mm movement at the blade translates to an even smaller movement at the base and it's hard for the camera to pick it up. -

And by the way, thank you for throwing ideas my way. I really do appreciate it. -

Well, unfortunately that is not the case. I know it's hard to see in the video, but there is definitely movement at the front of the table. You can see it at the end of the video when comparing the trunnion to the cast base (above the right 20 degree marker) I know it is almost imperceptible, but it doesn't take much. I'll try removing the table and see what happens. I don't know if I will be able to get enough leverage to movie it though. -

It definitely isn't bottoming out. I can take the table and trunnion off and the knob can still thread all the way into the base. I can make it VERY TIGHT. the bolt is not moving. Talked to Delta this morning. Didn't get very far with the technician and he suggested I take it to the nearest repair facility. It's over an hour from my house. Two round trips there is not an option when I could just return the saw. I would rather fix it, but I have my limits. (I didn't tell him any of this) He called back a few minutes later and said he had talked to a few people and they are unaware of the problem, but it is either an issue with the trunnion, or the cast base. They are sending out a trunnion to see if that solves the issue. Here's a short video of the issue that I made.
