Thank you Frank. I originally I thought about paint but quickly realized that wasn’t a good idea since I can’t paint a wall in the house without getting paint on everything in the room. Paper was safer for me.
I thought I would try something different. I cut this and it looked like it needed color. So I decided to try cutting colored paper and gluing it to the back out the top layer. Then glue it to the backer and coat with spray polyurethane.
I think it turned out pretty well. I thought I would share

A friend is retiring and loves eagles, I decided to try on of Grampa’s patterns the eagle to give to her. But I wanted to add a clock to it. This is what I ended up with, I’m pretty happy with it.

I have been working on this on and off for a few days when I have time. I still have some work to do around the base. But I’m happy with the way it’s looking so far. It’s a combination of 2 patterns. There is a 1/2” spacer between the front and back to give it some depth.
I’m not real happy with it but it was good practice.
i was doing good on 1/4” plywood so I thought I would try real wood. When I was cutting the wheels the blade seemed to have a mind of its own, sometimes it followed the grain.
It was made from 3/4” cabinet door. I’m not sure what kind of wood it is but it’s pretty hard
