Fretwork is how I learned to scroll... Remember my clocks? Intarsia, i just started doing a short time ago and am trying to learn the ropes... It just SEEMS like I've been doing it for a while because I was cranking them out all Spring this year (prior to it getting too hot in the garage)... Oh, and the frame of this Air Force project is just an applique glued to its face... Kevin, you are spoiling me with these reviews of my work... lol

I may be a retired Air Force veteran but I'm also a tremendously proud Navy Dad... My eldest daughter is a Navy Corpsman stationed at Camp Lejeune in Jacksonville, NC... This little gem was designed by Steve Goode and I blew it up from 7 1/2" in diameter to 14" in diameter... I put a normal ball cap in the picture for size reference...

Yeah, i use compressed air to clean my PC so I guess I could if I wanted to waste the air on the clocks...

1 of mine is a wall-hanging one and two of them Are on shelves that I built for them... The other is free standing in my living room...

It is holding up just fine... I do the dusting but I'm lazy about it so it only gets done about once a year... lol I have several others that I made to dust as well...

Wow! Today marks the 8th year anniversary of my finishing of this dome clock... This is the project that gave me the confidence to start posting my work online for public viewing... My, how time does fly... I got this clock pattern from Wildwood Designs who have since been merged with Cherry Tree Toys... It took a while to finish this gem but was an absolute joy to make and especially to complete! Including a picture of the clock after I stained and Polyurethaned it... Not exactly sure which version I like better but I'm very proud of the project either way... Edit: Oh, this is 1/4" Southern Red Oak with a Walnut dial... It was stained Dark Walnut and sprayed with 3 coats of Minwax Polyurethane...

Yes, it definately is... I've been a diehard fan since I was 7... I'm from a small town called Knox in Clarion County off I-80 in North Central PA... My entire mancave is decorated in Steeler colors and memorabilia although some of it is being taken over by intarsia projects... lol I'm also a Pirates and Penquins fan... My wife has been converted to all three as well although she is from New York...

I got my new DeWalt scroll saw all set up and it works like a top... I surely waited too long for the upgrade... I cut parts of my Dragon Intarsia with it and I can’t believe how smooth and quiet it is...

I didn’t realize it until now but I noticed I was so busy making sure the letters were lined up together that I forgot to keep an eye on their slant... It appears the left side of the letters is lower than the right... if I hadn’t already sent this to the customer, it would become firewood...

Well, you're in the same boat as every intarsia artist ever in existence until they started... Pick you out a beginner pattern, get some cheaper wood like pine or cedar and give it a shot... You never know; you could be the next Judy Gale Roberts... I was on the fence about it at first too... I was very critical of myself and my projects but other intarsia looked so darn amazing to me that I had to keep at it... I still have MUCH to learn but I'm hanging in there... I like that there are not many holes to drill... lol

I have to go buy some plywood for a backer tomorrow so I haven't lacquered this yet but I figured I'd post it anyway since I've nothing better to do... This pattern is by Judy Gale Roberts... I used Maple, Poplar, Walnut, Red Oak, White Oak and Cherry...

One day project... Just a quick logo commissioned by a fellow facebooker... It is all 1/4" Birch Plywood... I don't know if it is easy to tell but the words are applique...
