  1. I have a white wash on the back pieces of the puzzle , but getting unwanted stain on the back seems un professional. The sanding sealer could be the answer.
  2. I'm trying to stain the front and side edges of puzzle pieces with minwax stain. When I stain the sides, some stain is getting on the back of the wood witch i don't want. Painters tape or clear packing tape on the back does not help to protect the back from stain getting on it. Any ideas how to prevent this? I use a cotton swab for the sides. Thanks
  3. This may be the spray gun I was wondering about. they sell them at Lee Valley in Canada and have free shipping right now. I just use water based, Deft finish.
  4. Hi I'm wondering if anyone uses any kind of spray gun for scroll projects? I was using a spray can then started using a preval aerosol with water base deft varathane. The preval aerosol is about $10.00 Canadian so im wondering if anyone is using and inexpensive spray gun. I have a compressor and I see, Lee valley Canada sells a sprayer for about $56.00 I would not need a $300.00 unit , just something for scroll projects. Thanks Jim
  5. Well I finished the train puzzle and put a water base stain on the front and a white wash stain on the back. Also put on a few coats of water base finish.
  6. If you were a 3 year old wouldn't that change things not knowing what side is front or back.
  7. I think what I'm going to do is put a light water base stain on the front. Possible a whitewash on the back.
  8. What is a good child safe stain and paint, and who carrys it in Ontario?
  9. One is 3 years ,another is 4 years and another is 8 years. It's the 3 & 4 year olds Im thinking about.
  10. So the train is 21 piece , if the young child doesnt know front from back that's 42 pieces. That's too many pieces for a young child.
  11. I scrolled out the train puzzle from the scroll saw woodworking & crafts book from the winter addition for my grandkids. I want to leave the front of the puzzle natural wood. How would they know the front from the back. It's 21 Pieces so I would want them to know what Is front otherwise it's like 42 pieces If I paint the back, they may think that is the front. Thanks Jim
