  1. DeWalts are hit and miss. You may get a quiet, smooth saw or you may not. I was unhappy with mine but many others are happy with theirs. A DeWalt is certainly better than an “entry level” saw, and it will get the job done, but don't expect it to perform like a high-end saw because it can't. It wasn't made to. That doesn't mean it's a bad saw, but if you buy it with expectations that it will be as good as a more expensive saw then you will be disappointed. If you buy it with the knowledge that it's a mid-range, made in China saw, then you will probably be happy with it. I'm not saying that you shouldn't but one, I'm just saying know what you're buying.
  2. Here's a couple more photos of my mask. The darker piece with the “QL” is what you lift up to drop the mask.
  3. I probably should have taken a picture of just the front of the mask also. I'll get one tomorrow.
  4. Here's the mask I have. I'm inculding a picture of the bag it came in. The model number is underlined. I've had it several years. Hopefully it's still available. VID_20200422_210520343_HDR.mp4
  5. I have a 3M respirator (don't remember the model number) that has a latch on the front that allows the mask to drop down so you can talk to someone or take a drink without taking off the mask. I really like it, super easy to use. I'll try to get a picture of me wearing it, (have to wait until someone is here to take the picture).
  6. Good tip! I'll be giving that a try.
  7. You're welcome! So glad to be of help! Keep those awesome cuts coming! I haven't had the chance to get out to the shop for several days, I'm getting anxious to get back out there.
  8. Thanks Ray, I've got an adapter for my foot switch that should work. I just ordered a vac on Ebay that should be here next Friday. And I've got the little cyclone in my cart on Amazon. Now I'm trying to find a canister the right size, I probably have one hiding around here somewhere. The CPAP hoses won't cost me anything. Looking forward to getting it set up. Note on the cyclone: Amazon still has the aluminum version. Search for "cyclone separators" and it should be on one of the last pages in the search results. If I remember correctly, there are two sellers that have them. They were a little over $30 but I'm getting the plastic one instead.
  9. I'm looking at doing my own set up too. The same vac that is included in the Seyco set up is 94.99 on Amazon, haven't searched Ebay yet. With that price, plus the cost of the extra hose and cyclone, I think I can save about $40. If I can use some old CPAP hoses for both under and over the table, I can save even more. I bought my saw from Ray and I want to support his business, but I need to save money when possible. My main concern with a vac that small is how well it will hold up to long hours of use. But even a larger vac can burn out.
  10. Very nice! I'm partial to the light blue background.
  11. I have a twenty year old Shop Vac brand vacuum. It's 2.25 hp, 6 gallon unit that uses 1-1/4" hoses. It has strong suction but is such a screamer that I haven't used it in a long time. Maybe I'll put it back to work if I can muffle the noise. Do you think that vacuum is too much suction for that little cyclone? I'm concerned that it might suck up what's in the canister and defeat the purpose of the cyclone.
  12. They look awesome! The santa is my favorite! One of these days I'm going to try intarsia. Are you able to stack cut them and do they have a backer?
  13. I picked up an order from my local wood supplier a couple of days ago. The only time I had to get out of the truck was to pay for my order. It was a strange setup though. They had the front door propped open with a folding table keeping you from going inside. The clerk was at a counter about 15 feet away. I had to read my credit card information to him. Anyone in the area could hear. That was really uncomfortable. Ain't going back until all this is over!
  14. My son repairs and installs copiers. Some of those big machines come in wood crates that have some fairly decent wood like oak, hickory and ash. There's also a lot that isn't fit to use, but that's to be expected. I don't have a drum sander, so before I run it through my planer, I strap my hand-held belt sander upside down on a saw horse to clean it up. It's a lot of work but it's worth the effort for the really good stuff that's free.
  15. I'm glad you found it and did something about it. Sounds like they have complied. You can go to the U.S. Copyright Office for information, but basically, you own the copyright the minute you create the work. Nothing has to be filed anywhere.
  16. Had a nice long talk with Ray this afternoon. As y'all know he's super nice and helpful. Anyway, he gave me a list of things to check out that I'd never think to do on my own. I'm sure I'll find the problem.
  17. Thanks, I'll call him today.
  18. I've never tried cutting bevels, but I got it in my head to learn how to make scroll saw bowls. So I bought Carole Rothman's book and told myself “I can do this” (I've got myself into a lot of trouble that way). Today, when I made a practice cut I noticed that the saw had some vibration that it doesn't normally have. My saw is a Seyco ST-21 tilting head saw. It's a smooth running saw at 90°. So I'm wondering if it is because of the angle? I was cutting at its maximun angle of 30°. Is it normal for saws to vibrate more when cutting at an angle?
  19. Heritage Wood Specialties is also shipping. I didn't see anything on their website saying they were closed.
  20. I just want say THANK YOU to everyone for making me feel welcome! I'm really looking forward to getting to know everybody! I have some things in the works that I'll be reaching out to y'all for help with soon. Once I get a couple of things worked out I'll be looking for your input. Hope everyone is well, talk to you soon!
  21. Thanks! Let me know the next time you come down, maybe we can meet for a cup of coffee.
  22. Nice job! Yes He will! You're very kind to do that for her. There's a very special feeling that comes when you give a gift and make someone happy.
  23. Yeah, I had high hopes for that saw. I kept it greased but it had electrical problems.
  24. Thank you! Getting it done was a bit of an ordeal. Now I just need to learn Pinterest (I'm way behind the curve social media wise).
  25. Janie, I have some really fond memories Colorado. The first time I tried fly fishing for rainbow trout was at Wolf Creek Pass, beautiful place! Maybe I'll get to go back there someday.
