  1. Coarse not course
  2. Yes, I've turned it on and it cuts with the two blades I have. One is 6 inches and the other 6½. I have just received a little conversion kit from Axminster tools which will allow me to use pinless blades. The insert is removable but its position is determined by two little pins so it will only fit transversely. I have tightened up all the Allen bolts as there was a lot of play in the frame. All good now. What blades do you suggest perhaps fine, medium and course. I believe that breakage of blades is an occupational hazard
  3. Ok thanks for that I change the blade by taking off the tension then applying tension once its seated. Cant see any other way and yes I've been on there. Basically there is little difference between mine and those listed apart from I have a fixed speed and ab 18 inch throat, my table is cast iron and I cant take pinless blades although there is an adaptor for that I believe. Also I found another fret blade in my shed with 5 inch dimensions and it works so looks like blade length isn't critical. Both blades are pretty blunt I think. I'll order a few and see how it goes. I've got a bit of foam rubber to bolt it to a little bench so that will probably make a difference. Now all I need is inspiration
  4. Table looks out of alignment. Shows evidence of blade brushing the inset.
  5. Also, a big thanks to all your welcoming replies. I look forward to learning from the masters of the art.
  6. Ok I've posted pics on general questions. Thanks in anticipation. Padraig
  7. I just joined yesterday and have a couple of questions which I posted on the intro forum. These are pics that go with the questions if anyone can help. Supplementary question is what's that little attachment on the right front corner of the table for? And any idea where I might get a user manual. Clarke only hold 16 inch models Thanks.
  8. Ok got some pics. Is it ok to post on here or is there an appropriate forum?
  9. Ok. I'll do tomorrow it's almost midnight here. Yes it is a pin blade. Cheers
  10. Just bought on a whim an 18 inch Clarkes saw This is a discontinued old model I picked up for 30 quid as it's about the last woodworking tool I need to buy. Two questions, please indulge me here. 1: how do I measure the length of the blade? Is it just the length of the toothed section disregarding the flat ends? My toothed section is coming up around 5 inches or 130mm or thereabouts but theres an inch or so either end where the pin is sited. Number 2. The table insert is a good flush fit and made of metal. But the opening is sitting east to west ( or vice versa) looking at it from the front. Should it not be north to south (or vice versa). Also looks like its held in by two little spring pins. Can I just push it out and realign.? Sorry for the long winded post. I'm eager to get this machine rocking and rolling, which it does! I'm going to have to bolt her down
