  2. Thanks. yes really takes a lot of patience. The finished one is actually the second model because the first one I was working on , which was about halfway done , accidently fell off my workbench and ended up on floor in a dozen or so pieces, lol.
  3. I did this model because it's a model of my car that I presently own. I just take the pictures online and take photos of the interior of the car and resize them with Inkscape after tracing the bit map.
  4. Thanks. I built this model because it's the model of my car that I presently own. I had also built a model of my 2008 kia Sportage that I owned at the time. It won 2nd prize in *Scroll saw Woodworking &Crafts* magazine's 2016 People's Choice Awards. I used glass for the cover and plexiglass for the sides. Just added a few pics of my Google Sketup drawings, thought it might help to give you an idea how to build your case.
  5. Thanks...the more details the more I enjoy doing this hobby.
  6. Thanks....a lot of work cutting those rims involving turning on lath and scroll sawing the spokes.
  7. I picked this car because that is the car that I presently own...lol
  8. Inlaid butterfly 2
  9. Thanks. Yes took quite a while for the painted one, quite a few steps to cut out the different colored parts by individual layers, but enjoyed every hours involved.
  10. Practicing my inlay cutting with scroll saw. A few flaws here and there , but came out fairly good. Would I call this inlay fretwork, lol. The patterns are by Alison Tanner.
  11. Thanks Charlie E. I suppose doing a lot of scrolling helps a lot doing those projects. Just got to work on hiding the entry holes.
  12. Thanks for your advice Jim. Sounds great, will try that method on my next project.
  13. The welcome and sea horse are 1/8'' birch and oak plywood and the Barbara one is birch plywood and mahogany.
  14. I tried mixing sawdust from under the scroll saw with wood glue, but did not come out that good. I may try the box of crayons.
  15. I was just using scraps of 1/8 '' plywood....birch and oak . That one was actually my first one. My favorite one also....wife's name..lol
  16. Here are my first attempts at inlaid patterns on my scroll saw.
  17. Nice job, like the model also.
  18. Probly have to order it on line. Lee Valley has it.
  19. All my cuttings are don on Finnish-Birch plywood. This resin-bond plywood is water resistant for interior or exterior use. Unlike ordinary plywoods, it has no voids, is sanded on both sides and is made up of thin layers that make it very strong. You can really cut delicate pieces of a pattern without having pieces breaking off. In this pattern I only had one piece break, the left bottom tooth.
  20. Naw.....only about 3,000 minutes.....guess I'm a slow cutter....
  21. All finished....great pattern, Thanks Jim Blume.
  22. Yes great patterns and challenging to cut.
  23. Insane sawer for sure lol. Getting there , at about 40 hrs in, guess I'II have to take my brother's suggestion of getting my head examined after finishing this one lol. The top part and top of head are all cut out, just taped in place until finished to protect some very delicate parts , just the bottom .Mostly just the grass on the bottom left to finish. Quite sure there are around 900-1,000 entry holes in this pattern.
  24. Thanks all for your fine comments, really appreciated . I use straight blades 28 tpi. Olson #2 skip tooth and Task.
