My latest project - a helicopter made out of basswood. Used a mahogany stain on the propellors and Watson's Golden Oak on the body. Applied a satin gloss finish on it when done. Who knew I had all these toys justing waiting in my basement woodpile!
Here are some photos of what I've been working on this past week.
First photo has two paw print ornaments for the grandson and his friend along, a Home plaque and a Jeep wall hanging for my other grandson
Second photo is a whale puzzle. Third is my most ambitious so far - a Harley-type Skull with pistons for the son-in-law's workshop.
Here it is - another puzzle from Steve Good's patterns. A few minor mishaps but overall I think it looks pretty good for my second attempt at scrolling. Painted this one rather than staining it.
FIXED!!
I'm sure this has been covered before but my search didn't turn anything relevant to "wood retailers". Any suggestions with regards to purchasing wood? I've seen people question quality of big box retailers which is where I had been going. Is there a better source I'm missing?? I'm in S.E. Michigan if that helps.
Thanks for your suggestions in advance,
I have several in different stages of completion. A second puzzle of a butterfly, a couple of dog paw ornaments with the dogs' names, and a Jeep cut-out for one of my grandsons. Several other patterns in the pile, including a bowl.
I know that this is way below the level of most of you but here is my first project - almost! I used food coloring to dye the wood to make it non-toxic. Still trying to figure out which color(s) to stain the outline of the puzzle.
BTW - definitely not my puzzle design!
I've been looking for schematics and parts for the 751-5 - can't find any on the internet. Will have to breakdown and try to call them on Monday. Thanks for all the suggestions. BTW - I found a new, unused WEN 3921 for $70 - going to pick it up tomorrow.
I sent the seller a note but have not heard anything yet. In the meanwhile my Dremel MotoShop died this morning! Going to have to get serious about finding a new saw.
