  1. Check out the Skil saw model MS6305-00. I'M also replacing my old Craftsman miter saw and going with this one. Check it out. Jim
  2. i have used some "Burch" plywood, not Baltic birch, from Washington state. Seems to be alright as I have made cabinets with it and no voids. Just FYI, JIM
  3. A while back I found instructions on YouTube (the Gwinett woodworkers) that said waterproof grease was suggested. There is also a repair video on YouTube by "Awesome wood things" showing repair of a Dewalt saw and he shows waterproof grease and explains why. I use it and it works until it doesn't Jim
  4. All, Thanks so much for the input. I truly appreciate all the responses. Looks like I'm keeping the Dewalt. It's an old friend and fits well in my shop. I'm retired and woodworking is a hobby that keeps me off the streets and out if trouble. I don't really see me needing two scroll saws. If the Dewalt dies again, I'll buy a new one. This rebuilt will hopefully last as long as I well. Thank again all. Jm
  5. TRedd351, Good luck. Don't need a saw gone that badly. I would prefer to "sell" to someone that can use a good scroll saw to get started or who needs a new one. But thanks for the note. Jim
  6. Needmore, My Dewalt 788 was sent to the facility in Las Vegas. I live in Arizona, so that was the closest. You are near the Gwinett Woodwokers in Georgia and I believe Bob Brokaw ma still rebuilds these. His are probably better than Dewalt. You can probably get some information from them as to where would be best to send your unit. Not really sure how to help. I went to my local Dewalt service center and they took care of the connection to Las Vegas. Let me know how you make out and I'll see if the folks here can give me directions to a location near you. Best I can do now is try to get directions for you from here. Keep me posted. PM If you would like. Jim
  7. Good morning all, I have a small dilemma in which I would like you thoughts. In September my Dewalt DW788 type1 began knocking. I reviewed the Gwinnett woodworkers YouTube videos and Bob Brokaw's videos. After opening my scroll saw, I realized I was in over my head. Buttoned it up and on October 8th sent it to Dewalt to be overhauled. They would completely rebuild it for $300.00. On about the middle of January, I asked the status and was told parts not available and not sure when they will be. While waiting, I purchased a new Delta 40-694 scroll saw. One week later my Dewalt showed up. Completely rebuilt to original factory condition. Dilemma is which one to keep and which one to sell. They both run great and vibration and sound are very very close. Sorry for the length of this note but would appreciate your thoughts. Thanks so much, Regards, Jim Paskell
  8. Dan, Thanks for the info. I'll give it a try. Got it. First one post repair, second pre repair. Graduated to the 4th grade. Thanks again, Jim
  9. All, Thanks so much for all the replies. Got it done. Easiest thing was to follow suggestions by kmmcrafts and dgman. I had forgotten the trunion has slots in it. Loosened the bolts aligned it up and blade is very near center. Tighten bolts and all is good. Thanks again to all. Next time a problem arises, I'll pester y'all again. I truly appreciate the comments and help, Regards, Jim
  10. Dan, Thanks for the input. I have a picture, but being at a technology level of a 3rd grader, I figure out how to get it in here.
  11. Good morning all, Just set up my new Delta scroll saw 40-694. Have the table set in the indent and table at 0 deg. However the saw blade is very close, like a out 0.006 the the left side (edge)of the hole. Not sure how to adjust the table to move it or the blade to the center. Any tips or hints would be helpful. Thanks, Jim
