  1. Now that is the third time I've heard "try stacking three layers" but how does one attach the layers to not misalign them while cutting?
  2. That's not a bad idea, just looked and there is still flat left at that distance and if you cut ¼" a lot, yep, I'm going to try that.
  3. I feel there is always room for improvement, given that, I feel pretty good about this one and in my case slower is better. I still need practice in turns even when I'm going real slow. LOL I have some solid on order, not sure when it will arrive.
  4. OK, so I did another project, this time I tried to implement many of the suggestions that were given to me. Mainly, I slowed both the speed and myself down and I changed blades often (just ordered another group of blades. Please comment again, they are truly welcome. This time I used walnut ply, did not find solid walnut, yet.
  5. Yes, I have noticed that. Thanks
  6. Rolf, I used a #3 Pegas from BearWoods, Reverse Skip
  7. OK, so a lot of great suggestions to consider, actually I'll consider all of them. I'll start with slowing both speed of the machine and my push speed, cause, I know I push too hard. It's not right to think this, but I figured the faster I went the straighter the line would be, but them I would come to that corner or circle and I'd slow way down, so go figure why I figured I had to go fast in the first place. The magnifier with light should be a big help, I have found myself with my glasses I'd say almost nose to blade holder to see what I was doing. I am thinking the jumping is coming when I lighten up so much holding it. One of the biggest things I need to change the blade more often, I think I've been trying to use one blade for an entire cutting, that really made a difference this morning when I put the fresh blade in. So, I thinking I need to go back out and do some more cutting and trying to put all I've learned so far together. Thank you. Don't stop I'll take any knowledge you all can give me. Oh, the wood I've been working with so far is Light Premium MBF as the Baltic Birch I had been using had voids in it.
  8. All things I would not have thought of, at least as of to date. I will keep these in mind, and my wife has a lighter magnifier on a stand and I don't think she uses it. I will have to borrow it, she won't notice.
  9. Any and all criticism would be truly accepted, I want to be better at this.
  10. Are you saying that you start out cutting at 50-75% at machine cutting speed and then speed up cutting the additional as your blade dulls? I have been using my machine on full speed for everything I've been doing, it seems any slower and the wood wants to jump and it is more accurate at higher speeds.
  11. I had to take a second look, first one was nice horse, scrolled down reading then went right back up to look again, and I saw it. Clever, I like that.
  12. I feel paste wax is the best option to go with. I've been using it on my table saw and sander table as well, for years.
  13. Funny you say that, I also like to put it in the bottom clamp first, and with my machine I've been able to do that. It just seems to line up better that way.
  14. that would do fit for me as well, but that I have not seen. I'm about to go out and see how a new blade feels as opposed to my yesterdays blade. Ok, so the last 5 hours I've been having fun and YES, a new blade really makes a difference. I even had the blades to use, but you all gave me a good sense of what to look for. I changed blades twice sense I restarted this morning, I guess three times as I put a spiral blade in for some of it. I'll try to add my practice project when I'm done here.
  15. that would do it for me as well, but that I have not seen. I'm about to go out and see how a new blade feels as opposed to my yesterdays blade.
  16. Well, just reading what both of you have offered, I'm overdue. First thing tomorrow I'll put a new blade in. I have a feeling I will feel the difference as soon as I start. Thank you, I'll get back tomorrow.
  17. Another question, at least I have not broken any blades. So, when am I using a dull blade? I think I have a tendency to change blades to a new one too often, as when I take it out it doesn't feel a lot different than when I first put it in the holder and that can be several hours latter. I've used the same blade now all day today and seems to still cut quite well. Perhaps I should be checking the cut itself for particularities and if so, what?
  18. Ray, I didn't notice I was even pulling down on the upper arm until you mentioned it earlier, I think my problem has been solved with several great posts. Thank you all
  19. I gave it until the next morning
  20. Yes, I have a Pegas 21. I have already tried the method in the video. I was surprised to find the blade still tight enough after tensioning it. When his blade broke in the video, that was exactly what I was having. Thank you sir, much appreciated.
  21. kmmcrafts, no I wasn't using spiral blades, flat yes, and sorry I didn't mention it I was using 2/0. Thanks for the help
  22. OK, so I just came in from 30. minutes of cutting arcs, circles, lines to no where, and the #2 didn't even falter. I tried to do much of the tensioning that was mentioned here. I did not know if I was doing it right, but it works and I'm not changing the tensioning knob at all now. Thanks
  23. The first blade I put in that afternoon, yes, I over tensioned it for sure, as it broke as I put the lever over. But I then paralleled the upper arm to the table and started again with the same results, so I lessened the tension a bit more and still 2 more times it broke. That was when I got frustrated. Granted the next day I had no more problem with it, but..... I went to a #3 blade and have not tried the #2 again, I should go try that and see what happens.
  24. all of them about 2" up from bottom
  25. Yes sir, using ⅛" ply have not had any blowouts lately.
