  1. Hey everyone, I have a question. After using a blade a few times they get a bend at the top, I'm guessing from the set screw that holds the blade. It typically isn't a problem until I use a small drill bit for ssmall/ tight cuts. I have a project coming up with about 90% of the cuts are exetremly tight. My saw is a 21 inch Bauer, I've had it for a month now and this is the only minor issue with it. I don't know if I'm doing something wrong or if its just part of the game that I have to get used to. I would appreacheate any ideas or suggestions. Thank you
  2. Thanks for the Pegas idea, I will look into it.
  3. Well I wasn't able to resolve the problem but I got a suprise early Christmas present. I got the 22" Bauer scroll saw from Harbor Freight. Since the Craftsman still works, it can be a great backup saw. Now I can still work on fixing the knob problem on the Craftsman but I won't be so pressed for time on it. Thank you for all of your suggestions and help.
  4. I don't know what else to call it so I'm going with balde retention knob. Here is my problem. I have a Craftsman scroll saw that I got in 2006. It has been a great saw and tit still works pretty good. My biggest problem with it is the blade rention knob. Its small round and hard to grip. I tried to epoxy a wooden knob to it but it didn't work. I have a nasty contraction and tendonitis in my right hand. Normally it's not a huge problem because I'm left handed. In the last couple of weeks it has been very painful at tighting and loosening this knob. Painfull to the point that it makes me not want to use the saw. Here is what I have found out about this cursed knob of pure evil. The entire length (including the knob is 20mm The diameter of the knob is 16mm The diameter if the bolt is 3.8mm The length of the bolt is 13.5mm I took it to my local hardware store and the guy told me that it's 8-32-4mm, so I thought great! I can get online find a replacement with a more comfortable knob and be happy. I'm not much of a hardware guy and the information that the hardware guy gave me. 8-32-4mm is a bit confusing. I have not been able to find me a better knob. I would really be grateful if someone could point me in the right direction or tell me exactly what I need to be look for. Thank you
  5. Welcome to the village! Yeah free stuff is always the best price. I often cruise the neighborhood for free wood. It's recycling at its best. As I type this I hear a chain saw being used. I like your setup. Looks like you have twice the space that I have. Looks like you have a pretty nice workbench. My big winter project is to make me a proper workbench. Keep on scollong!
  6. Welcome to the Village Doug. You will find and share many ideas here. I lived just north of Reading from 95-97, back in Oklahoma now. Look forward to seeing your works of art.
  7. That is beautiful. I ordered the plans from Wild Wood around 2004 and got the first level done with solid oak. I can't find what I already have done on it but I do still have the plans. I hope to start again this winter. I really hope that mine will turn out as nice as yours did. It isn't a weekend project. You got to be commited to it for the long haul. You did a great job.
  8. It beautiful. I would love to try it.
  9. I have a question or two. Is there a place here where you can load up pics of your projects like a gallery or something? What about showing projects made from commercial plans? Are there any guidelines on showing those? Thank you Aaron
  10. Thank you for all of the wonderful welcomes from all over! My other passion is amateur radio, call sign K5ATG, and I really enjoy talking to people everywhere. Right now I'm busy with making some shop made tools to make life a little bit easier in the Little Okie Workshop. Then a couple of ham radio related stuff. Yeah I have to stock up on some ornaments if I can. I've forgotten how relaxing it is to cut holes in a scroll saw, at least until the wood breaks and the hole gets a lot larger than you wanted it to be lol. I look forward to getting to know you guys.
  11. Hello everyone! I'm Aaron and I live in the Oklahoma City, OK area. My shop is just half of a single car garage, about 10X10 foot. In the early 2000's I made quite a bit scroll saw projects. Then living life got in the way and along came disability. After a couple of decades of inactivity I decided that the time is right to clean out the garage and fire up the scroll saw. I have a Craftsman 16 inch that I got in 2005. It's a bit worn out and its getting harder for me to install the blades on it, but it works. It's not the best out there but it is better than nothing and it is what I can afford. My goal is to become more physically active and make some sawdust along the way. I have a lot of health issuses that keep me in bed most of the time. I would like to be able to design my own patterns. I think that would be really cool. I'm taking the "Design Your Own Scroll Saw Patterns over at Scroll Saw Village, I guess where these forums are. I'm learning GIMP, never used it before so I'm sure that i will have questions about it along the way.
