I just joined this community today, after hearing about it on Lumberjocks... I am a long-time member there but don't care for their format anymore...
Am also a long-time Scroll Saw user! Bought my first (a no-name brand that I still have) in the early "90's...
Did a LOT of cutting with that one using patterns from the old Spiellman collections... But, as is usual with progress and skill development, started to make my own patterns later...
It must be mentioned, that I'm stubbornly old-fashioned, and still use paper and pencil for designing! I use Carbon Paper for transfers, paper to wood, just like it used to be done...
It works for me...
Made many signs for people and places (some found their way all the way to Guatemala!)...
Eventually I started to make boxes, using the Scroll Saw to cut the finger joints... This has become fairly an obsession when I began cutting my own hinges, handles, and clasps for them as well!
About 12 years ago I upgraded and bought a used Dewalt which is now my primary saw...
I've had a life-time love of Woodworking of all kinds, but have found the Scroll Saw to be the most versatile and genuine fun machine I have...
Thank You for allowing me to join and I look forward to an agreeable association with this site and it's enthusiasts!
