As I said .... I was a bit shocked and I did write back telling her tho. This morning I received an apology and she said she was going to look into this. Sadly I can't provide her with the envelopes the doubled up magazines came in 3 weeks ago, so can't give her the information she asked for. So for now I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that the missing June one will still turn up. You are right.... I like the magazine and I do realize living overseas, sometimes mail does get lost. What I was upset about more then the hassle and long waits was the tone of that letter, because it made me feel like she thought I was trying to wheedle extra magazines out of her. Thanks for your reply.... made me feel better just to know it wasn't me being overly sensitive.

Hello Everyone, I was wondering if anyone's ever had problems receiving their creative woodworks and crafts magazine? I subscribed a couple of years ago, had trouble from the beginning having to ask for the freebie that came with it .... did not receive it until 6 months later. Then I received the renewal so late I missed the last issue. This year I inquired about the May issue... they did replace it .... and two of them arrived within 3 days of each other..... now I got the August issue, but June's missing. When I asked about this I received the following reply. Frankly I'm a bit shocked.....I think they are suggesting that I'm "loosing" issues on purpose just so they have to double up? Juvy Since you received two May issues – one was your original subscription issue and one was the replacement – the Australian postal service can be the only reason for the delay. I am sorry but we can’t afford to send magazines twice to any subscriber. We will no longer be able to replace any issues or extend your subscription. I don’t want to suggest it, but maybe we need to cancel your subscription. Regards, Loretta

Thanks for the reminder .... I forogt all about this site until I opened it and yes.... I've been there ..... a looooooong time ago! Now all I have to do is actually get that money to them - found out Lowes does not take overseas creditcards..... bummer... then I just with I could be there to teach them , to watch their faces....

That sounds very encouraging. My fear is that if I get them a saw that's frustrating to use they'd loose interest in scrolling before they'd get a chance to fall in love with it Thank you

wow, you know those guys who answered on their site must have had lemons or something... you are telling me the right opposite and I'm ready to tell my son to get this saw... specially considering that they aren't going to be using it for fine scrolling .... they are all beginners and chances are high that they will destroy it before they have a need for a better one lol ..... so it's an entry saw.... I'm hoping to get them interested enough so maybe in a few years they'll want/need a better one. I'm still hoping that one day someone will sell a Delta over here again... nothing beats that clamp system.....I've used a Hegner and still liked the Delta better! Thanks again for your input

Thanks so much for that quick reply... lighting speed! lol Are you using the saw with pin or pinless blades? Are the pinless ones easy to change? This saw is going to my son and his 3 boys ( 8,10 and 12) My son's an experienced woodworker, but never had a scroll saw... so they are looking forward to this. I would hate to get them something that's going to frustrate them and turn them off woodworking. Thanks again Juvy

Hello, a few months ago I read a review in one of the magazines about the PORTER-CABLE 16" Variable Speed Scroll Saw , it sounded pretty good. As I'm in Australia I can't go have a look at it myself, but would like to purchase it for my Texas grandkids. When I had a look at the Loewe site I read some of the comments and as good as the first ones were... the latest ones are bad.. So before I send them money for this.. can anyone tell me more about it? Or can anyone recommend a saw comparable in price? At the monent they sell it for $186 with stand. Does not have to have the stand as my son can make one. I have a Delta myself and love it, but not sure if it can still be bought in the US... we can't get it here anymore. Thank you Juvy

Thought of the toys for charity when I saw the new quick and easy plans from Aschi's Workshop. I think little boys would love them. http://www.aschisworkshop.com/cars.htm There are also new plans for 3 English Lorries, 4, 6 and 8 wheeler and an English 08 Shunter loco with 3 wagons. Have to admit I probably would not know the difference between all the different trains and lorries on Aschi's site, but would think it haven for train and truck enthusiasts! http://www.aschisworkshop.com/index.htm Juvy

That's a "different" idea ...... actually a pretty darn good one I had no idea what a Megalodon was..... I looked because I thought it might be some kind of instrument! lol Juvy

Thanks Clayton, think that Wildwood one is a bit out ofKathy's reach..... price wise, also looks like it would take her probably longer then the clock. I do however think the one Kevin is showing would be a bit quicker...... any idea where the pattern came from? Thanks Juvy
-
I'd love to see the photo! Does anyone know where to get a pattern? Thanks Juvy
-
Thanks everyone..... I showed Kathy all the answers and she loved being "famous" She now wants to do more "big" projects, one of them is the Eiffel tower - so far have only found a portrait style pattern, but she shook her head... she wants something "better" lol Thank you for being so supportive and encouraging Juvy

Hello .... I haven't posted here in ages, so couldn't resist this opportunity My star pupil Kathy... she started scrolling just 18 months ago ....look what she just finished! We're so proud of her! She lives about an hour away and drove here 2-3 times a month for the last year. Then her patience was severely tested. Once she finished all the cutting she left the parts here for Ken and myself to assemble.... however... we had an overseas trip booked and couldn't do it until we came back. She didn't know we finished it when she came to visit... her face was priceless! This was well worth it... three days in a row she send us e-mail telling us that she still loves her clock! Now THAT's what I think is what it's all about Juvy
