Hi Folks, I'm looking for information on segmentation. It has something that has interested me from the beginning but

there doesn't appear to be a lot out there. Can you point me in the right direction?

I believe segmentation is all the same wood used in the project, then stained or painted but not sure. It's lots quicker than intarsia but with the same almost look!If you lay the picture on the wood and cut all the pieces out then round over all the edges in my book that is segmentation ,but could be wrong.

this is a segmentation i did 33" tall and over 50 pieces ,stained and painted[attachment=13229:kathy wise pattern - Intarsia_Segmentation - Scroll Saw Village.htm] it was ment to be an intarsia but i didn't have the hard woods to do it that way so i inprovised the whole project .It was beautiful.I traded this ,an eagle and somethinfg else for my first dw788!

Scroll saw segmentation cutting is done when you cut a picture by cutting the entire project from one piece of wood or similar material.

Your best bet is to find a copy of Patrick Spielman's book Scroll Saw Segmentation.

You can cut almost any Intarsia pattern using this technique, then you sand shape and color the pieces and glue them back together.

After you have tried this you will then want to try Intarsia and you will be hooked.

Good luck and post pictures of your finished projects.

Thanks for your help. I have seen something that I thought was called segmentation but perhaps I was wrong. It wasn't like intarsia, it was a picture with the pieces scrolled but they were mounted on the backer separately. Hard to explain. Ill try to find it again to show you. Thanks again.
