amazingkevin Posted February 2, 2015 Report Posted February 2, 2015 My dw788 has been losing blade tension all by it's self as i notice the adjusting handle walks around today. this has been going on for month and months.I wondered why i don't hear the click click click when i add tension.?The dent wheel has come loose a whole half inch from the bolt that goes thru it .I tightened it up and the machine is so quite just like brand new. The only spund i hear now is wood being cut. That's one thing that always impressed me about the dw788,no motor noise or mechanical noise. i put thin foam under the speed control also so that to doesn't move around Quote
Multifasited Posted February 2, 2015 Report Posted February 2, 2015 (edited) You, probabaly lost your flexiable compression spacer ring ! It keeps the tollerance where it is supposed to be ,that will work but I am afraid only a little while .shoulder bolt and special washer keep the setting right for the resistance you need !JMHO Edited February 2, 2015 by Multifasited Quote

terrylee Posted February 3, 2015 Report Posted February 3, 2015 Nice saw,but they don't hold up when you use them every day ! I went thru 3 dw788 in six year time.Is all in the motor that goes out on them.Number three is sitting in my shop with a for sale sign on it.I have a Excalibur now,is little noisy in which it can be fix,if i send it in Quote
rjR Posted February 3, 2015 Report Posted February 3, 2015 As an old farm boy I actually have used real "baling wire" for some unique repairs! They always turn out to ne a "get the machine to the yard" type of repair! I drove a tractor with a broken fuel nine about 3/4 mile home using a ball point pen barrel stuffed and then twined around between the broken ends!... Better than walking. So A.K. I do know what "baling wire" repair is. The newer version is the guy with 5 rolls of duct tape floating around his pickup! I used to kid a friend that when the world ran out of duct tape he would have to quit farming! Self reliance is the term for being able to get up and running on emergencies and then repair correctly at a latter time! Good SAVE! Quote
