It's winter and we feed the birds. A butcher friend provides suet.

Frozen of course so I cut it in chunks small enough to fit in a suet feeder.

It's not easy to cut frozen suet so I thought I'd try cutting it with my bandsaw.

Ohhhhhh MAN. Big mistake. Everything got greased. Some places coated with

a 1/2 inch. I stopped after just a few pieces of suet were cut.

It only took an hour to clean it up...

I think I got it all out.

I greased my bandsaw..... ;)

Well Larry, at least your bandsaw won't rust for a while. Could you maybe ask your butcher friend to cut it up on HIS bandsaw????, or would that incur a small FEE.    .

My neighbor had an injured cow. The vet came over late at night and said it was best to put it down. After they did, he used his bandsaw to cut some of the pieces into steaks. He too said it was a mess to clean up.

Was  a great way to cook on a camp fire in the old days ,melt suet in a pan ,spit large roast over pan ,or hind quarter of deer ,fire boils grese tin can on stick as laddle rotate meat and pour boiling  fat over roast ,keeping nibblers away is a problem make a great roast boiling grease seals roast keeping juices in r   roast  ,did that way for ox roast every fall for fire dept fund raiser ,great for large gathering ! control cook time by amount of grease applied at a time !
