I pay $20 a month for our internet service to watch for bad viruses, I think they are the ones doing it. How is Photo shot or what ever it is called. If I don't get one in. I will just ask on here for all my buddies here to make the patterns for me. Quote
JustLarry Posted February 25, 2015 Report Posted February 25, 2015 Willie, This is how I do it. Set up file in your computers Pictures Folder for pictures you will be using. Use a file name you will remember. Go to Pictures, make new Folder, Rename folder something like a a a a Gimp Pictures. (the a a a a will put the folder up close to the top of the making it easy to locate. ) Open Gimp. In upper left corner click on File. In window that opens click on Open. When new screen shows find the word Pictures in window on left. When pictures folder opens click on your picture Folder. (a a a a Gimp Pictures). When that folder opens locate the picture you want to use. Double click on picture and picture should appear in the Gimp screen. Hope this helps. Quote
JustLarry Posted February 25, 2015 Report Posted February 25, 2015 Steve, Are you trying to download from Gimp or another source? Lots of sources offer Gimp for download but they also add lots of add ons and garbage you do not want. That could be reason your provider is warning you. Direct from Gimp link . http://www.gimp.org/downloads/ I believe CNET is also a reliable source. http://download.cnet.com/GIMP/3000-2192_4-10073935.html Quote
Smudger Posted February 25, 2015 Report Posted February 25, 2015 Try turning your firewall off then install gimp then you can turn your firewall back on, some times firewall stops everything being downloaded. Quote

JustLarry Posted February 28, 2015 Report Posted February 28, 2015 Willie: Glad it worked for you. If you need help with the lessons make sure to post about it. Someone will be able to give you answers. I am sure you have seen the posts that are with each lesson. Probably will get quicker response if you post your questions with the lesson you are working on. Have fun learning. Larry Quote
spirithorse Posted March 1, 2015 Report Posted March 1, 2015 Hi, Willie, I looked up Graphics Editing Programs and found one called PIDDIX for MAC. There are also a few others not often mentioned like Paint.net and DrawPad. I have a very old copy of Adobe Photoshop and like it very much because I could learn to use it fairly simply with-out too much reading of tutorials. Basically trial and error. Good luck in your venture and God Bless! Spirithorse Quote
