tvman44 Posted May 15, 2015 Report Posted May 15, 2015 (edited) Question for you Inkscape users. When you join 2 or more objects as one (I think it is called welding), can it be un-joined or un-welded? I have been skimming thru Travis's videos but did not find this, if it is in one of his lessons maybe someone could mention which lesson. TIA, Bob Edited May 15, 2015 by tvman44 Quote
bobscroll Posted May 15, 2015 Report Posted May 15, 2015 Hi Bob it's Bob here! lol, If you've grouped two objects together to ungroup them look at the top bar, Hover over the icons and it tell's you what they do!.....Just to the left of the letter "T" at the top is were you will see what you need to click on o.k. P.S. If you have two path's that you have put together it is called a "union"....To break them apart you hold Ctrl+Shift+K o.k. Bob Quote
Travis Posted May 15, 2015 Report Posted May 15, 2015 It depends on how the shapes are put together. If you are doing a Union (welding) to create a unique shape, they cannot be separated again because it creates a new shape. If you have a hole in a shape, you can break that apart (Ctrl+Shift+K), which separates the two shapes that make up that shape. But that's only for shapes that have holes in them. Quote
tvman44 Posted May 15, 2015 Author Report Posted May 15, 2015 (edited) It is 4 lines of text that I welded together by using Control + G Edited May 15, 2015 by tvman44 Quote
Travis Posted May 16, 2015 Report Posted May 16, 2015 Control+G is a grouping. So to ungroup, use Ctrl+Shift+G (or Object>Ungroup) Quote
tvman44 Posted May 16, 2015 Author Report Posted May 16, 2015 Thank you, don't remember where I came up with the term welding. but shift + ctrl + G did the trick. Quote
