Travis Posted October 16, 2009 Report Posted October 16, 2009 Norm from New Yankee Workshop is retiring from the show after 21 years! What will I watch on Saturday mornings, now? I feel like I lost my Saturday morning cartoons! http://www.finewoodworking.com/item/203 ... eries-ends Quote

Christina Posted October 18, 2009 Report Posted October 18, 2009 Norm is retiring! OH NO! Well I guess he deserves it after so many years...........but it's so sad! I'll miss it so much. I'm sure they will keep the reruns going forever but it just won't be the same. Hopefully he's retiring from it to do another show for us..........I hope I hope. I gotta have my Norm fix..........New Yankee Workshop reruns are on several times a week here. I love that show! Christina Quote
Travis Posted October 20, 2009 Author Report Posted October 20, 2009 How about a new show???? Travis from the Scroll Saw Village Only if I get the plaid shirt and beard! That would seal the deal! Christina My understanding is that he'll continue with This Old House, but hanging up the toolbelt for New Yankee Workshop. I'm not sure the reason. I suspect perhaps the producer is retiring? I think he's been with the same producer since the birth of the show. Just a guess though. I hope this means that someone will fill the niche. Woodworks is no longer being produced, now New Yankee is out. Woodwrights shop is fun to watch, but not all that practical for someone like me. Not sure if Router Workshop is still around or not. I think there's another woodworking show that I can't remember the name of...Scott Phillips I think had the show. Hrmmmm.... Quote
Christina Posted October 22, 2009 Report Posted October 22, 2009 Most all I get here other than This Old House, New Yankee Workshop, The Woodwrights Shop...........and Woodturning. Once in a great while there will be one I've never seen on but it's pretty rare. Too bad someone doesn't do a scrollsaw show! That would be awesome. Most of the craft shows have been taken off too............rarely even get reruns anymore. Doesn't anyone do any kind of hand crafting anymore?! Seems it's all remodeling shows and cooking shows..........or reality crapola. I say get rid of a whole lotta those idiotic sitcoms that insult your intelligence and give us a whole bunch of new craft and woodworking shows!!! Christina Quote
