I haven't had the time to do much wood working lately. I have sold a few pieces through the furniture store in town. I sold enough to buy Chistmas, so I'm thrilled about that.

I mentioned here a while back about my vehicle situation. Well, actually it was my NO vehicle situation. So, here's the story on that one. I wound up buying an '82 Chevy Blazer. I got it pretty cheap. The engine was supposed to be a good one, but it had timing problems. I got it home and after further investigation, the motor was crap. The cylinders were rusted out. Both heads were cracked. I mean, for the price tag to save this engine, I could have bought another vehicle. So, I started on an engine hunt. I found one, and although I'll be picking around on little minor details next week on this truck, it's ready enough that I drove it down the road yesterday. If there are any gearheads in the house, here's what I transplanted into the blazer:

350 CID bored out .030 over to make it a 355 CID

flat top pistons with chrome moly rings

Edelbrock Street Performer cam

High rise intake with Weber 900 carburator.

This is the first toy I've built since I came out of the wheelchair a few years back. I still have some fine tuning to do. When I took it down the road, it was just to check for leaks, misses, and the such. I never took it over 3k RPMs. In a 1/4 mile stretch, it hit 80 MPH. That's pretty good for a vehicle as heavy as a blazer without going over 3k on the tachometer.

It sounds sweet too. It's running 2" header tubes. Right behind the rocker panels are turnouts with restrictor plates that can be removed to run open headers. With those capped off though, the exhaust fumes run back though straight 2 1/2" pipe with H-pipe crossover and though two turbo mufflers.

Sorry I came to a woodworking site with it, but ya'll are my friends and I had to tell someone about my new toy.

Greasemonkey : Wow sounds like this toy needs a strip to run on , when you start it up does it take a gallon of gas to do so . But it appears that the right parts have been used  , ........good luck ...........Marshall :)
