2 nice padauk slabs, both are 1" thick, 4-1/8" wide and 11.5 long. Padauk has a gorgeous varying reddish hue.
Could easily slice them in 2 or even 3 or 4 if you have a good bandsaw depending on your use [ I can easily slice 1/8" cuts on mine, probably 16th if I wanted to]. For scrolling, I'd say for sure you'd want to slice each in at least half - Which I would do no charge on request. That would obviously double your board ft right there.
Both are nicely surfaced but will require finish sanding, again  depending on your use.

Very dense and solid hard wood, you could knock a horse out with one of these slabs. Machines beautifully.

I want $10 each for these, which obviously is a steal. Thing is unless you live in the Detroit area, shipping has to be factored in which sours the deal but IMO does not kill it.
I figure it will take $12 to ship these anywhere in the USA, possibly $8 and I will refund the difference if that is the case. So a total of $32 [possibly $28] for both of these slabs shipped, these would be in the $20-$25 range each easily at most exotic wood shops. Paypal works for me, post here or pm if interested.

Yep, is a jaw dropper.

I wish that blonde streak ran through the whole plank. Some see it as a defect, not me.

I have heard its hue can change with time, I have peices cut 3 years ago and still the same. Same with purpleheart. I think the hue changes come mostly from any UV exposure, in normal indoor conditions I doubt it would perceptably change much in a lifetime.

Nice looking wood.

Absolutely cannot have a too large stash of wood !

And my old buddy Kevin, nice to see you are alive and kickin.

Am going to post some more spare cuts I have laying around, including rosewood and bocote.

Slabs posted are sold, here are 2 more from the same plank if anyone is interested, same dimensions.

Lighting I think was skewed for this pic, they are as red as the other ones.

And here are some nice exotic thin cuts.

First there are 2 bookmatched Rosewood cuts, each is 18x5" and a little under 1/8" thick. Very nice grain patterns.

Then there are 2 bookmatched bocote cuts, each 24x3" and about the same thickness as the Rosewood.

Prices and shipping same as the padauk. Might seem scandalous to some that wood this thin is the same cost as much thicker wood, but that generally is the way it works. At Rocklers, I guarentee a bocote or Rosewood cut like this would be $20+, and thats if you can find it. Too, they factor in the labor/machine time it takes to make these thin cuts, and also species is a factor. Shipping too, though they are much lighter, still long and bulky.

Both bocote and rosewood are considered premium exotics, while some like padauk, purpleheart ect more common. For all these reasons and more, thin cuts can be [and are] often as expensive as thicker cuts - That is why it pays to have a good bandsaw, cut out the middleman !

If you can't DIY and need thin stock, there are not many resources that I know of for thin exotics. Rocklers/Woodcraft is one, not everyone has one of those stores within driving distance, and you will pay a premium as, of course, they are a middleman and have to make a profit.

Here is an online resource I know of http://www.cormarkint.com/product/bocote-thin-stock/Here is another http://www.ocoochhardwoods.com/scroll_saw_lumber.php

And yet another, a little limited on exotics https://www.etsy.com/shop/ThinBoards?page=1

Can also occasionally find decent deals on ebay. My prices here, I am confident, would beat any of those sources. Only thing that makes it even close is the shipping that I of course have to factor in - But so do most of the other sources.

Of course I will combine shipping if someone is interested in both.

Here is another offering, yellowheart twin slabs.

Each is 15.5 x 8 and are .21 - .22 thick [about a 1/4"]. Quite a bit of real estate for scrolling, ideal thickness and an uncommon exotic species.

Priced the same as above, $10 each + shipping.

Hi Jim, send me a pm and we'll discuess, I think for a package deal shipping should stay about the same. Obviously the thin boards are not heavy but a bit bulky, nice versa for the thick ones, but I don't think they would add appreciably to the total.

All wood listed has been sold.

Here are some more if anyone is interested.

Have one set of padauk left, no pic necessary as they are identical.

Another 2 slab set of bocote, $10 each plus shipping.

2 slab set of marblewood, $8 each plus shipping.

Bocote is 16.25x4.5", .11 thick. Marble is 19.25x4", .8 thick.

Can also in most cases do more sets, identical or nearly, no extra shipping.

No rosewood or yellowheart just now, might put another set up shortly.

Memory getting bad.  I received my wood yesterday.  Was going to acknowledge yesterday but every time I got on the forum I forgot.  I did receive two beautiful pieces of Padauk , just as the picture showed and Xray described.  Thank you very much.

Well, if it seems high don't buy is all I can say.

Around where I live that is cheap, and thats if you can find it. Pricing and avilability can vary greatly by location. Best way to gauge prices is by links I already posted in post #9. Some of this stuff is genuinely tough to find for alot of people, and trust me I am not trying to make a living selling wood. Truth be told its probably more of a hassle for me to cut/pack/ship than is worth the bother, I do it in a sharing spirit at a price point where at least I am not taking a loss.

Thanks for the heads up Paul.

Howdy folks, ran into a real good deal for padauk if anyone is interested.

These slabs are [or will be] 12x6" and 1/4" thick, making them ideal for many projects large and small, and intarsia as well. Needless to say, if you have a band saw and want them even thinner these could easily be sliced in half, doubling the product.

Pic is some of what I got, they are around .75, don't want to slice them until someone commits to an order.

Just $8 per slab, really dirt cheap for this size/thickness/species - You could expect at least double that from wood shops or online, and thats if you could find them.. Shipping $10 via USPS priority, could probably fit at least a dozen in the box for the same shipping.

If interested PM or post here, thanks.

I do have many other species as well if there is something you are looking for, probably not quite as cheap as these though.

I have bought one or two orders from Doug and wow did the wood turn out nice. So glad he was willing to re-saw them for me since I don't have a band saw.

What all do you have available Doug? I am always looking for more scroll saw wood.

I have many many species including wenge, cocobola, bocote, purpleheart, yellowheart, hickory, zebrawood and more.

Sizes are variable, prices negotiable, haven't really thought about it and I don't like slicing until I get orders ,, So if you have anything special in mind let me know and I'll put on my thinking cap and whip up an estimate.

Some species like the 1st 3 tend to be expensive, only ebonies are more. I'm pretty familiar with market rates for thin cuts and can easily beat any full time seller as I have no middle man, I do it all myself.

I remember when I didn't have a bandsaw, I'd sometimes take .5 stock down to .25 and less with a planer, such a waste and messy PITA. Really good investment, will eventually pay for itself.
