I use wood polish I have prepared. Applying a few coat. It is polishing my own produce. It can be eaten for breakfast.  :D  Formula I reserved. Sold in my country.

I applied to different woods. Sapelli, walnut and pine.

I use Minwax spray Polyurethane on all of my Intarsia.  Usually use a satin finish, but occasionally I go with semi gloss.  I add life to eyes with clear nail polish.  Makes them look wet.  Been doing it this way for 3 years with no issues.  Dries fast 2-4 light coats per project.  IF needed I will lightly sand with a sanding mop before the last coat.

Iv'e been using Minwax spray on satin poly on my intarsia projects for over 20 years.

I begin by spraying the first coat on each piece and wiping it off which allows me to see the final color of the wood plus to see if the piece needs to be sanded any more.

Once the pieces are assembled into position I spray several more thin coats applying from all directions to get all of the edges and in between the pieces.

For frames and  boxes I use minwax wipe-on satin poly using the same technique  sanding between coats with 320 or 400 grit.
