Thanks Marg.  It's night time here so this was taken under artificial light hence the photo is not the best.  I decided not to apply BLO to this one as I didn't want to darken the oak too much so I just used a couple of coats of Rustoleum semi-gloss clear coat.

It is easy to apply and dries quickly.

 

Here is the original unfinished image for comparison.
