It's been quite a while since I've logged on here or anywhere else these past months. I've been following things on Facebook as that is about all I've had time for and it allowed me to keep in touch with a greater number of friends.

Without getting into too much detail, we had to uproot my 13 year old and move her in with us, put her in a new school this year, her mother passed away from cancer in October, and my girlfriend's dad passed away a week later. I got the task of clearing out my ex-wife's apartment which took every last scrap of free time. On the bright side, on Christmas morning my girlfriend became my fiancee. So sometime this summer we will be getting married. Nothing fancy since we've both "been there, done that". Simple ceremony and then a party with all of our friends. Just a good old time.

Things are settling down now so I'm hoping to be able to pop in here a few times a week at least. I've missed reading the posts and seeing all the new patterns. I've also begun working on the Civil War Generals series again and hope to be posting some soon.

It's nice to be back

Wow. It sounds like a lot of major life experiences in a short time. I'm sorry to hear about your ex-wife's passing and your GF dad. That is tough on the family. But congratulations on your engagement! I wish you two the best. Hopefully things will slow down a bit for you to catch your breath and focus on yourself for a bit. Glad to have you back!

Thanks,

I had no idea how much I missed getting on here until yesterday. It really helped relax me a great deal. Things are getting back to normal. We are looking forward to a lot of great things this year.

I'm so sorry for your losses Barry. Life challenges are just not a lot of fun. Congratulations on your marriage! I hope you will both be very happy. How is your daughter handling all of this? I hope she's doing great! It has to be hard for all of you. Please extend my condolences to your lovely wife and daughter too. You are all in my thoughts and prayers. And...

WELCOME BACK!

Nice to talk with you again Christina.

My daughter, Samantha, is actually doing pretty well. On occasion she will get a little down and contemplative, but for the most part she has turned back into a normal 13 year old girl. She's even able to talk about her mom without getting sad. You know, things her and mom did, stuff her mom used to say, etc and she does it now without getting quiet.

We managed to get through Christmas and New Year's without any real depression so that is a good thing. I'm hoping in the near future that we can get Samantha off the Zoloft. I think she will be just fine going forward.

So how have things been with you Christina? I know you had computer issues, but how is everything else at home?
