Made a couple of these yesterday.  1/8" birch plywood with 1/4" oak plywood backer.

Sorry Nathan, it's just to black, there's no border to designate where the head and helmut start and end. Personally, if I cut this pattern out, I would have to do it in three layers. First the backer, then the cutting that is painted all black. Then for the third layer, I would cut out the perimiter of the actual cutting, that would act like a border that would frame the picture. I hope you can picture what I mean.

Thanks for the input. I almost did it that way, but I like it like this. I wanted something dark and minimalist like the original drawing.
