Raised letters

I just experimented with cutting at 4 degree tilt to the right on my saw.  Some of my letters were raised and some came out recessed. Anybody know of a good tutorial with good explanations on how to do this on my saw?

You must go only one direction for all cuts to have it raised or recessed. You went clock wise and counter clock wise.

To be sure the results will be what you want cut a trail run on scrape. I put little directional arrows on the pattern so I

don't lose track.

As Al said it depends on whether you go clockwise or counter clockwise but also which way the table tilt is right or left. I can not think for certain where a tutorial may be try looking in this forum. I have to always look it up and I think making a test cut is a good Idea to see if the tilt, direction and degree is right for what you want as suggested before.

I have made this same error in the past....Discovered as Al said , have to be consistent , always in the same direction !

Cutting in the same direction will either raise or lower your lettering. Play with some scrap pieces and get a feel for it. I am sure a lot of us have been there especially myself.

Angle cutting things is always on my mind but thats as far as it goes.

Tino, your best bet would be to do some trial and error cutting on your own.

Keep whatever you want raised on the high side of the table.  Inside cuts get confusing, but think of keeping the part you want raised on the high side of the table.

I do a lot of inlay work  and it is similar to what you are doing.  The whole clockwise couter clockwise thing comfuses me.  I just remember to keep the image or letter to the right of my blade.  That is, with the table tilted down on the left.

        Like has been mentioned.  Trial and error will teach you a lot.
