so i'm trying to make a keyrack. How do i make the holes where i want the key hooks spaced evenly.

When i go to add my markers for the key hooks, i want them about a half inch apart from each other. and can't figure out how to do have them evenly spaced.

I'm not really sure where you're having a problem.  Are you not able to figure out the math/measuring?   Or are you having a problem with measuring in Inkscape?  Do you have your rulers set for inches, instead of pixels?  If you can't figure out how to change to inches, here is how you do that.

File > Document Properties > at the very top, first thing in the Page tab,  General settings,   it says 'default units'  with a drop down menu.  click the arrow and choose in.

If it's a math/layout thing, you didn't tell us much to work with.  But this is a very simple example.  If your Keyrack is some uneven number, unlike this example, then you just divide by the number of hooks you want and adjust from there.  Hard to explain for me.  Maybe someone else can say it better.

When I do ribbon rack.  I create little circle about the size of the hole of the peg.

I duplicate to the number I think I need.

Place one on the right end and one on the left end.  In location I want.

I now put the selection box around them (or hold down shift and click on each circle)

Use align too to centre horizontally and then there is an equal spacing button.  Make sure the top box is on first selected.

If it looks okay I group.  Some times you have to add or delete a circle.
